Watch: Cowboys Micah Parsons and Indian cricket superstar Jasprit Bumrah ‘miserably fail’ naming NFL and IPL teams

Dallas Cowboys Micah Parsons and Indian cricket bowler Jasprit Bumrah turned a lot of heads in June when the USA hosted the T20 Cricket World Cup for the first time in its history. In a segment, Parsons and Bumrah tried their best to guess teams from the NFL and IPL (the Indian Premier League is a domestic 20-overs cricket league in India).

The host of the segment flashed several logos on their iPad and both players had the task of guessing their names. Parsons got the first crack at it, hoping to get a few correct.

One by one he was shown the logos of the defending champion, the Kolkata Knight Riders, and then the Lucknow Super Giants. However, Parsons clearly wasn’t familiar with either of them, so he formulated names bordering on the designs calling KKR ‘Spartans’ while LSU became ‘Lucknow Falcons.’

The third logo was of the Mumbai Indians, which is the team Bumrah plays for in the IPL. He even mentioned it in the clip, but the two-time All-Pro pass rusher named it ‘Mumbai Spears.’ To be fair, it was one of the hard ones to accurately guess.

Sunrisers Hyderabad and the Chennai Super Kings were the last two names that the host flashed for Parsons. By now, the 25-year-old’s guessing game was in shambles, as he called them Sunrisers Eagles and Chennai Lions.

Jasprit Bumrah was no better than Micah Parsons

While Parsons went into the little contest without the right attitude, Bumrah already admitted that he had no clue about NFL teams. Even if that’s the case, he should have at least guessed the name of the first team when Parsons said ‘Americas Team.’ Bumrah’s answer was ‘Star Cowboys.’

Moving on, the second name on the list was the Tennessee Titans, followed by the Los Angeles Chargers. Bumrah hilariously just stopped at ‘The Titans’ and ‘The Thunder.’

Seattle Seahawks became ‘The Eagles.’ Hopefully, Philly fans aren’t too disappointed that Seattle is now the new Eagles. And the final name was Super Bowl winners the Kansas City Chiefs. It was the only name that Bumrah was close to correctly guessing, calling it KC Chiefs.

Eventually, Bumrah asked Micah Parsons if he played for any of the teams mentioned.

You could have given me a hint, that’s your team, I would have said Dallas Cowboys. Jasprit Bumrah told Parsons

Regardless of the two athletes’ terrible general knowledge about each other’s sport, it’s a great leeway for the NFL and Cricket. BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) Chairman Jay Shah even visited the NFL HQ in New York and met with Commissioner Roger Goodell, discussing the growth potential of the NFL and the IPL in their respective countries.
