The Washington Commanders announced several roster moves today, including the release of DE/LB Jamin Davis. He was a 1st round pick by Ron Rivera in 2021, and he never lived up to that draft status. When Dan Quinn took over, his position was changed to the defensive line, and he worked on the edge during training camp. Washington added several LBs including Bobby Wagner and Frankie Luvu, making his place on the roster more questionable and the team declined his 5th-year option.
Davis was a healthy scratch against the Ravens, and now he's off the team. Washington didn't announce a signing for the 53-man roster, but it's likely the team will activate rookie LB Jordan Magee. He had meniscus surgery before the season started and he has been on injured reserve. His 21-day practice window opened on October 2nd and he'll need to be activated by tomorrow, or be shutdown for the season on IR.
Washington also announced several practice squad moves. Before they announced these transactions, Tom Pelissero reported that Commanders CB Kevon Seymour has been suspended 6 games for violating the NFL's performance enhancing drugs policy. Safety Sheldrick Redwine was also released from the practice squad. Safety Ben Nikkel and WR Michael Strachan were signed to fill the open spots on the practice squad.
