Washington Commanders 2025 game-by-game predictions following schedule release

The Washington Commanders' 2025 season has officially been announced, so it's time to predict the results for every game of the season!

The Commanders are in the spotlight for a majority of the 2025 NFL season with six primetime games, an international game in Madrid, and hosting a game on Christmas Day. Here's a season-long prediction for the Washington Commanders' 2025 season!

Week 1: NY Giants @ Washington Commanders

Washington starts the season hosting NFC East rival, the New York Giants. We get to see Josh Conerly Jr. against Abdul Carter for the first time, with many future matchups ahead. The entire Commanders' offensive line will truly be tested to start the season, with a stout defensive line of the Giants. New York will likely start Russell Wilson at quarterback to start the season, and Washington's defense should get the best of him. Washington's defense will hold the Giants to just 10 points, and Washington wins 27-10 to start the season 1-0.

Week 2: Washington Commanders @ Green Bay Packers (TNF)

The first primetime game of the season comes on the road against the Packers. An early-season game against Green Bay means no cold-weather late-season game for Washington, which is a major plus. The Packers still have questions in the wide receiver room, and if they've built around Jordan Love enough or not. It might be too early in the season for the Packers to get going on offense, but Josh Jacobs will still get his work in against Washington. The Commanders' new secondary holds the Packers' passing game, and Jayden Daniels outduels Jordan Love 24-20 to go up 2-0.

Week 3: Las Vegas Raiders @ Washington Commanders

The Raiders took a major overhaul this offseason with Pete Carroll as the new head coach, and traded for Geno Smith to lead the way at quarterback. The Raiders' offensive line is much better than people realize, and Washington will have to get to Geno to make sure Brock Bowers doesn't get going. Rookie Ashton Jeanty will be a true test for the Commanders' run defense, just a week after facing Josh Jacobs. Maxx Crosby will welcome Josh Conerly Jr. to the league, but the rest of the defense won't be able to stop Jayden Daniels, Terry McLaurin, and Deebo Samuel. Washington wins at home 34-20 and starts the season 3-0.

Week 4: Washington Commanders @ Atlanta Falcons

Washington's second road game is against Atlanta for a rematch between Jayden Daniels and Michael Penix Jr, which went down to the wire to lock in Washington's place in the playoffs last season. The Falcons revamped their pass rush in the draft with Jalon Walker and James Pearce Jr, but Laremy Tunsil gets to show them what a veteran pass-blocker looks like. Bijan Robinson was a playmaker in the last matchup, so Washington's defensive line will have to contain him. Trey Amos, Mike Sainristil, and a healthy Marshon Lattimore will lock down Atlanta's passing offense, and let Jayden Daniels find his open receivers. The Falcon's home field advantage isn't anything to worry about, and Washington gets the job done 31-21, and go 4-0.

Week 5: Washington Commanders @ Los Angeles Chargers

Back-to-back road trips for Washington, and this time it's a trip to the West Coast against the Chargers. Jim Harbaugh is bringing out the best in Justin Herbert, and added Omarion Hampton and Najee Harris to run the ball like he loves to. The Chargers' defense took a major leap forward last year and can cause problems for Washington. This is a game where Washington HAS to run the ball and take advantage of a weak defensive line for the Chargers. Herbert and Daniels duke it out, but the Chargers' run game squeaks out a 23-21 win, and Washington goes 4-1.

Week 6: Chicago Bears @ Washington Commanders (MNF)

We have a prime-time rematch of the Hail Mary miracle game in Washington on Monday Night Football as they host the Chicago Bears for Week 6. The Bears overhauled their offensive line and have done everything possible for Caleb Williams, including hiring Ben Johnson as the head coach. Washington's secondary will be tested against DJ Moore, Rome Odunze, and rookie Luther Burden III, and the Commanders have to get pressure on Caleb Williams to win. Coach Quinn puts pressure on Williams, and Jayden Daniels makes the big plays down the stretch to win a close matchup 20-17 and go 5-1.

Week 7: Washington Commanders @ Dallas Cowboys

The Commanders' second NFC East game of the season comes in Week 7 as they travel to the Cowboys. Dallas made a major trade for George Pickens, but they still have a lot of issues on their defense. Jayden Daniels should be able to take advantage of a weak secondary while Tunsil blocks Micah Parsons. Dallas also added a lot of bodies to the run game, but none of them pose a real threat to make a game-breaking play. Washington's run game should be a well-oiled machine by now, but Deebo and Terry have big games and get a 27-21 win against Dallas and improve to 6-1.

Week 8: Washington Commanders @ Kansas City Chiefs (MNF)

This is where the season really kicks into the next gear and gets harder for Washington. A prime-time game on Monday Night Football against Patrick Mahomes on his home turf is a tall hill to climb. The Chiefs still have many questions on offense, but a Spags-coached defense will show up and give Washington fits. Mahomes knows how to get the job done, and this might be a game where a lack of pass rush shows a problem for Washington. Commanders fall on the road 27-20, and go 6-2 on the season.

Week 9: Seattle Seahawks @ Washington Commanders (SNF)

Washington returns home for yet another prime-time game against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday Night Football. The Seahawks turn to Sam Darnold after trading away Geno Smith, and I'm not sure Darnold will succeed in Seattle like he did under the Vikings' scheme and coaching. Washington's secondary will have a big game to lock this game away, while Jayden finds a way against a fierce Seahawks defense. Commanders go up 7-2 on the season after winning 24-13

Week 10: Detroit Lions @ Washington Commanders

The Lions want revenge against Washington, who embarrassed them on their home turf in the playoffs last season. We have no clue what to expect from the Lions' offense with Ben Johnson gone, but their defense will be healthy and ready by this time of the year. This will be a back-and-forth showdown with Jayden Daniels and Jared Goff, but the Lions do enough to beat Washington at Northwest Stadium. The Lions' defense, which added D.J Reed in free agency, is the difference maker in a 24-20 win over Washington. The Commanders are now 7-3.

Week 11: Washington Commanders @ Miami Dolphins (Madrid)

GOOD MORNING, WASHINGTON FANS! The Commanders head to Madrid, Spain, for an International showdown against the Miami Dolphins. Washington fans back home will have to get up early for this one, but it will be worth it to see Jayden Daniels turn into a national star in one of the best stadiums in the world. The Dolphins have the weapons on offense, but haven't been able to put it all together for the whole season, and Washington's cornerback room is the best it's been in a very long time. There have been questions about Tyreek Hill and Jalen Ramsey being a part of the team, and the Dolphins are on the decline, in my opinion. Washington puts on a show in front of the crowd in Spain, and Jayden throws for 350 yards and four touchdowns for a 31-20 win over the Dolphins. The Commanders head back to U.S turf with an 8-3 record.

Week 12: BYE WEEK

Washington recovers from jet lag upon returning from Spain and has a much-needed bye week in Week 12 to prepare for the final stretch of the season. The Commanders enjoy their 8-3 record and are ready for a playoff run.

Week 13: Denver Broncos @ Washington Commanders (SNF)

The Commanders host the Broncos for another home prime-time game this season, and we finally get to see Jayden Daniels vs. Bo Nix after they both had impressive rookie seasons. Nik Bonitto is coming off a stellar season, but Jayden Daniels has Laremy Tunsil to protect his blindside. This game will be decided in the air, with each team having top-tier cornerback rooms. McLaurin and Samuel outproduce Sutton and Mims to lead Washington to a 23-20 win over the Broncos. Don't look now, but the Commanders are 9-3.

Week 14: Washington Commanders @ Minnesota Vikings

Washington is back on the road, and traveling to Minnesota late in the season for a cold trip to the Vikings that will be played in a dome. It's J.J. McCarthy time in Minnesota, and we don't know what to expect after missing his rookie season with an injury. The Vikings reworked the offensive line to help, and Washington's defensive front can make it a long game for the new quarterback, so he can't find Justin Jefferson downfield. Don't sleep on the Vikings' defensive line this year after adding former Commander Jon Allen, and have some pass-rushing studs with Jonathan Greenard and Dallas Turner. The Vikings' secondary, however, looks like a weak spot that Jayden Daniels can exploit, and get a 24-17 win, and get ready for an NFC East run at 10-3.

Week 15: Washington Commanders @ New York Giants

The schedule ends with a four-game stretch of NFC East opponents for Washington, and the first stop is a road trip to the Giants, whom Washington beat in week 1 to start the season. By now, Jaxson Dart should be the quarterback for the Giants, who have a really tough schedule, and the record shouldn't be pretty at this point. There will probably be some firings by now, and the Giants' season is well over with nothing to lose, while Washington is fighting for the No. 1 seed in the NFC, and a chance to win the East. This is that classic ugly Commanders-Giants game, but the Commanders do enough to pick off Dart in the 4th quarter, and seal away a 20-13 win on the road. Washington locks in an 11-3 record.

Week 16: Philadelphia Eagles @ Washington Commanders (Saturday)

The showdown we have all been waiting for finally comes in Week 16 with the Eagles and Commanders fighting for the NFC East title once again. Washington hosts the first matchup at home on Saturday, December 20th, against the Eagles in a game that will undoubtedly get chippy again. The Eagles lost some key players on defense, but they still have Saquon Barkley. Washington's improved offensive line helps Jayden Daniels make plays downfield like he did against the Eagles in their final two matchups last season. Commanders win the first matchup in a nail-biter 23-21, and move into first place at 12-3.

Week 17: Dallas Cowboys @ Washington Commanders (Christmas Day)

It's Christmas time in Washington! The Commanders make their Christmas Day debut at home with one of the most iconic matchups in NFL history, Dallas vs Washington. By this time, Dallas has a chance to make the playoffs, but is out of the race for the NFC East title. Jayden Daniels knows it's time to do what they couldn't do last year: win the NFC East. Dallas won't go down without a fight, and just like the first matchup, this one is a close one won by Washington's defense, which forces three turnovers to get a 24-20 win on Netflix with the world watching. Washington climbs to a 13-3 record, and one game is left in the season.

Week 18: Washington Commanders @ Philadelphia Eagles (TBD)

This season finale is likely for the NFC East Championship, and that's why the schedule makers set it up this way. They know Washington and Philadelphia will be the two teams fighting for the championship, and even better, the number 1 seed in the NFC for the playoffs. Philadelphia is a tough place to play, and Saquon Barkley goes off in Barkley fashion to win the NFC East with a 35-27 win.

Washington made major upgrades this offseason, adding Laremy Tunsil, Deebo Samuel, Josh Conerly Jr., Trey Amos, and many others who are going to make big plays for the Commanders. This is a much-improved roster, and Jayden Daniels will take a leap forward as well. The Commanders will finish the season 13-4 and be ready for a run back to the NFC Championship.
