Warriors’ Jonathan Kuminga Reveals Injury News Before Grizzlies Game

The Golden State Warriors dominated the San Antonio Spurs with a 148-106 blowout victory, securing their second straight win. Six Warriors players scored in double digits, including five starters, with Brandin Podziemski leading the charge with 27 points, six rebounds, and five assists. Meanwhile, the big three of Steph Curry, Draymond Green, and Jimmy Butler combined for 40 points while sitting out much of the second half.

Despite the victory propelling the Warriors back to sixth in the Western Conference, it came at a cost, as Jonathan Kuminga exited the game after landing awkwardly on his ankle. The 22-year-old forward did not return, sparking concerns about the severity of the injury.

After the game, head coach Steve Kerr called the injury a "bummer," especially since Kuminga was just finding his rhythm after making his 10th straight appearance since returning from a similar injury (via Sam Gordon of the San Francisco Chronicle).

When asked about his condition, Kuminga reassured reporters that "he's straight," while expressing hope that he won't have to miss more time. The Warriors have a critical game against the Memphis Grizzlies on Tuesday.

Kuminga has struggled with lingering ankle issues this season, missing 31 games so far. Despite his injury setbacks, he has solidified his role in the starting lineup and is having an impressive fourth year with the Warriors. In 41 games, he's averaging 16.0 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 2.2 assists, while shooting 45.5% from the field and 31.9% from three.

With Golden State eyeing a deep playoff run, the team will be eager to have Kuminga at full strength. He is set to undergo further evaluation on Monday ahead of a crucial showdown against the fifth-seeded Grizzlies.
