Warriors Floated as Destination for $54 Million NBA Champion

The Golden State Warriors are still deep in the weeds of Jonathan Kuminga’s restricted free agency. But as the standoff continues, another young piece of their future is now being dragged into the fire: Moses Moody.

According to Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints, Moody’s name has come up in recent trade talks — not because the Warriors want to shop him, but because teams are pushing for his inclusion in any sign-and-trade centered on Kuminga.

That’s where the Warriors have drawn the line — for now. Golden State has made it clear they want to keep Moody out of trade talks. But perhaps that wouldn’t mean a move is off the table entirely. As free agency drags on, if a potential Moody deal brought back something of real value — say, a trusted veteran and proven champion — things might start to look a bit different.

Warriors Could Reunite With Barnes in Hypothetical Trade

Dean Simon of The Sporting News recently floated the idea of the Warriors potentially reuniting with former Finals starter Harrison Barnes — if they’re willing to include Moody in a deal.

Now with the San Antonio Spurs, Barnes is 33 years old and on an expiring $19 million contract. He played in all 82 games last season, averaging 12.3 points and 3.8 rebounds while hitting a scorching 43.3% of his 4.4 three-point attempts per game.

Barnes brings proven playoff experience. Positional versatility. A steady hand in the halfcourt. That’s something this current-day Warriors squad could sorely use. He was a key piece of Golden State’s 2015 NBA title run. And their 2016 Finals appearance. He’s only improved as a shooter since those days.

Golden State Must Maximize the Window Around Curry

The Warriors are built to win now. Stephen Curry remains an offensive engine, and Draymond Green is still a defensive anchor. The addition of Jimmy Butler gives Golden State even more urgency to go all-in before their stars hit the twilight of their careers.

Trading Moody for Barnes would be a steep price. But if it helps this team chase one more ring, it’s worth a real conversation. Golden State is in a win-now window, and waiting on young talent to fully blossom might not align with Curry’s timeline. A proven veteran like Barnes could offer more immediate impact on both ends.

Either way, something has to give. Golden State is stuck in a holding pattern. They’re waiting for the Kuminga drama to resolve. But if that door slams shut, expect the trade ideas to shift. Barnes could be one of the more realistic, win-now targets on the board.
