On the field, Adrian Peterson was one of the most dominant players to ever suit up for the Minnesota Vikings. Off the field, Peterson has done more to hurt his legacy than he would probably like to admit.
Most recently, a video was shared online last month that featured him getting into a fist-fight with someone in the middle of a poker game. Well, now Peterson and the person he was fighting in that video are going to attempt to settle their differences in an actual boxing ring.
According to TMZ, the former Vikings running back has signed a contract with Celebrity Boxing to participate in a sanctioned fight against a man named Joe "Baby Joe" Castaneda. No date for the fight has been set yet, but one would assume it will likely take place within the next year.
Peterson never officially retired from the NFL; however, the last time he appeared in a regular-season game was back in Week 13 of the 2021 campaign as a member of the Seattle Seahawks. So, he's essentially been unofficially retired from football since the end of the 2021 season.
Since then, he's been in the headlines for the wrong reasons more often than not.
In 2022, Peterson was arrested for suspicion of domestic violence in Los Angeles, California, after getting into an argument with his wife on a plane. He ended up avoiding any jail time for the incident after agreeing to complete 20 sessions of domestic violence and alcohol counseling.
This past April, Peterson was arrested for DWI after attending the Vikings draft party at U.S. Bank Stadium a few hours earlier. The former Minnesota running back was pulled over after driving 83 mph in a 55 mph zone, and he registered a blood alcohol level of 0.14 when a breath test was administered.
Peterson was once a player whom many Vikings fans idolized when they were growing up. These days, most of those people might be afraid to admit that they ever rooted for someone who has turned into such an embarrassment off the field since his NFL career came to an end.
