After losing Grant Udinski to the Jacksonville Jaguars a couple of weeks ago, the Minnesota Vikings have filled his spot on Kevin O’Connell’s coaching staff with another coach who is considered a rising star.
The team has announced the hiring of Jordan Traylor as the team’s new assistant quarterbacks coach. Traylor has spent the past six seasons as a part of the New Orleans Saints’ coaching staff.
Traylor was a quarterback at Texas A&M in his college days. After leaving College Station, he went to the University of Texas and spent two years as a graduate assistant working with the team’s quarterbacks and wide receivers. After that, he went to the University of Arkansas to work with their quarterbacks and serve as an offensive analyst before joining the Saints’ coaching staff.
He has held a variety of positions in New Orleans. During his first two seasons, he was a scouting assistant, and then spent two seasons as a defensive assistant before moving to the offensive side of the ball in 2023, including working with the Saints’ quarterbacks and tight ends.
Traylor’s father, Jeff, is the head football coach at the University of Texas-San Antonio.
Hopefully the hiring of Traylor will allow the Vikings’ coaching staff on the offensive side of the ball to maintain the same level of quality as we saw this past season.
