Vikings’ EDGE Andrew Van Ginkel gets $23M contract update days after NFL Draft

The Minnesota Vikings hit a home run in 2024 free agency when they signed EDGE rusher Andrew Van Ginkel to a two-year, $20 million deal.

Van Ginkel grossly outperformed that number during his first season with Minnesota, and the Vikings rewarded him for that on Tuesday with a massive contract update.

Per NFL insider Adam Schefter, Van Ginkel and the team agreed to a one-year, $23 million extension that will tie the soon-to-be 30-year-old pass rusher to Minnesota through the 2026 season. The deal also re-ups Van Ginkel’s contract with $22.4 million in total guarantees.

This is a well-deserved payday for Van Ginkel, who menaced opposing quarterbacks to the tune of 50 total pressures and a career-high 11.5 sacks in 2024. His value on defense also literally translated to points on the field, as he took back a pair of interceptions for touchdowns.

Minnesota’s EDGE group is now set for the near future, with star Jonathan Greenard entering Year 2 of his own four-year, $76 million contract and second-year pro Dallas Turner entering the second season of his rookie deal.
