Days after Bravo announced the decision to reboot “Vanderpump Rules” with an all-new cast for season 12, Lewber admitted her DJ boyfriend was in a state of shock and needed time to “process” the loss of the show he’s appeared on since 2014.

In December 2024, Lewber told The New York Post that Bravo’s decision felt “right,” but she predicted that her man would eventually return to reality television. “He was meant for reality TV, and he’s just so good at it,” Lewber told the outlet. “And, of course, deejaying is his true passion. So that’s what he’s gonna continue to do and focus on. But do I think James will be back on television one day? I really do.”

“That’s where he shines,” Lewber added.

James Kennedy Said He Dedicated His Life to ‘Vanderpump Rules’

Kennedy’s initial cameos on “Vanderpump Rules” came as he was dating OG cast member Kristen Doute. After their split, his romance and engagement with Raquel Leviss became a storyline on the show. Kennedy’s heavy drinking was also addressed, and in a season 7 episode, he broke down in tears as he begged boss Lisa Vanderpump not to fire him. She fired him, but later allowed him to return to SUR to deejay his weekly See You Next Tuesday set.

After the reboot news was announced, Kennedy posted to Instagram to share a heartfelt message about his time on the show. He admitted he was holding back tears as he wrote the message.

“It’s been a pleasure being a part of ‘Vanderpump Rules’ and filling your TV screens with our lives over the past decade,” he wrote to his followers. “I’ve dedicated my life to this show and I’m forever grateful to everyone who tuned in.”

Kennedy noted that some of his biggest dreams came true over the past few years, including gigs at Neon Carnival, EDC, and Stagecoach, as well as a residency in Las Vegas. “It’s been a wild ride and I’m excited to see what the future holds,” he added. “Although this is a bittersweet ending, for me, this is just the beginning!”

Other ‘Vanderpump Rules’ Stars Will Return to Reality TV

While Kennedy doesn’t have a follow-up reality TV gig lined up just yet, some of his former co-stars will return to the small screen soon. According to Deadline, Scheana Shay, Lala Kent, Scheana Shay, and Tom Schwartz filmed for the upcoming second season of “The Valley.”

Schwartz told Us Weekly he hangs out with the cast members of the Bravo spinoff.  “I pop in,” he said. “You’ll probably see some cameos. I hang out with all those people.”

Vanderpump told Access Hollywood there’s even a chance that Schwartz will turn up on the “Vanderpump Rules” spinoff because, in addition to SUR, some filming will take place at TomTom, the West Hollywood bar that he has a stake in. “I think we’ll definitely be filming at TomTom as well for sure and I think Schwarz is going to be more involved in that,” she said.

While speaking with the Post, Lewber confirmed that she and Kennedy won’t be appearing on “The Valley.”
