Longtime “Vanderpump Rules” star Lala Kent admitted she sometimes wonders if her wild season 11 finale spiel spawned the end of the original series.
During an Amazon livestream on December 19, the Bravo alum was asked how she feels about the end of her cast’s version of the show. Kent said she knew it was coming more than a year ago.
“I felt like I started mourning ‘Vanderpump Rules’ the moment I purged on that finale,” she shared with fans. “So, not only did I know it was coming to an end after that, but I feel like the moment we started filming season 11 it was going to be the last. It just felt like there was nothing – it was broken. It was very broken. So yeah, I feel okay with it. I feel very much at peace.”
Despite feeling at peace with the situation, Kent admitted that she questions if her role in the finale pushed things to the point of no return. “I do often wonder if I would’ve kept my mouth shut, like if a producer wouldn’t have stepped in and told me that I’m allowed to say the things that I said off-camera about filming, if the show would’ve been able to go on,” she said. “Or if I was just the final nail in the coffin. I guess we’ll never know.”
After pausing the show in May, Bravo announced a complete reboot of the Emmy-nominated reality show with a new cast for season 12.
Lala Kent Claimed Producer Jeremiah Smith Told Her to Go Off
Kent famously went on a rant about co-star Ariana Madix in the final moments of the season 11 finale, titled “Plot Twist.” During a group event for Kyle Chan’s Gold Bar Whiskey collaboration event in San Francisco, Kent blew up after Madix refused to film with her estranged ex, Tom Sandoval, following his cheating scandal with their former co-star Rachel Leviss.
“This happened to her. The world rallied around her,” she said of Madix as cameras rolled. “She now thinks she is Beyonce. It’s bull [expletive] that she can’t film with someone that she stays under the same roof. It’s a lot. It’s a lot that she’s saying ‘Don’t [expletive] with Tom Sandoval… But, I’m gonna sleep down the hall from Tom Sandoval.’”
“I never in my life experienced someone who gets cheated on and suddenly she becomes God!” Kent added, before claiming that Madix “moved on eight days later” with new boyfriend Daniel Wai.
On the November 29 episode of the “Scheananigans With Scheana Shay” podcast, Kent alleged that executive producer Jeremiah Smith encouraged her to “break the fourth wall” during the finale scene.
“I sat at that finale and I was like, ‘I’m not bringing it. I refuse, y’all better make something happen. Because I ain’t the one. You know, my back hurts,'” she told host Scheana Shay. “And then Jeremiah makes his way over to me and I’m seeing commotion, and he goes, ‘Everything that you felt, I want you to demolish the fourth wall.’ And I certainly did.”
Lala Kent Doesn’t Regret What She Said During the VPR Finale
On “Scheananagins,” Kent said she did not regret letting her frustrations out on-camera, but she admitted she was sorry she didn’t warn Madix about it. Instead, the whole cast watched the season-ending scene together during the reunion taping.
“I wish that after the finale, after I lost my mind, that I would’ve called Ariana and said, ‘I want to let you know that I said some really, really hurtful things that’ll probably be friendship ending,’” she said on Shay’s podcast. “It was not my style. I can’t even believe that I didn’t do that because I’m so adamant about when I say things behind your back, I’m gonna say it to your face.”
“I don’t regret saying what I said,” Kent clarified. “I regret not giving her the heads up.”
