Tom Sandoval and Ariana Madix have had a tumultuous last couple of years on Vanderpump Rules.
At the end of season 11, Tom blasted his ex for not wanting to film with him at the final party in San Francisco, and at the reunion, she returned the favor by saying he would only want to talk to her if it was on camera.
Ariana said at the reunion that she just wants him gone and out of her life, and throughout the last season, would only film with him in group settings if there wasn’t much of a choice.
Now, Vanderpump Rules showrunner Alex Baskin is speaking to the possibility of both Tom and Ariana returning for a yet to officially be renewed season 12.
“We’re respectful of [Ariana] determining whether this makes sense for her,” Alex told THR on if she would return. “We’re still figuring out exactly what it is that we plan to do, and that will in part be informed by our conversations with all cast members, including her. She’s focused on a lot of other things right now. So we can have those conversations, but she’s busy. She opened up [sandwich shop] Something About Her and she’s doing Love Island and she’s going back to Broadway, so I think it’s hard to get too heavily involved in conversations before you’re talking about something that is a little bit more serious and concrete.”
He noted that if they were to start filming in the summer like they normally do, Ariana would likely not return. They are currently taking a break from filming.
“She’s booked and busy. And, good for her,” he said.
As for Tom, has his story “run its course” after being an original cast member?
“I think there is a lot of story left to tell. It’s tough. We’ll see where he goes from here,” EP Alex said. “He’s in a new relationship. He’s touring with his band. I think he’s figuring out what his life looks like from here. I don’t know exactly what that means. Look, he’s someone who provokes as strong a reaction as anyone right now, but it seems there’s a continual interest in what he’s doing. I wouldn’t say he has run his course.”
As previously mentioned, they are not adhering to the normal summer filming schedule and the cast will be getting a break from the show for likely the rest of the year. However, could a couple of VPR stars make a move to the spinoff The Valley??
