Vancouver Canucks Top Defense Prospect Gifted Major Opportunity Amid Announcement to Captain Quinn Hughes

With injuries continuing to plague the Vancouver Canucks blueline, the team's newest defense prospect Victor Mancini has a chance to cement his place on the team's back end.

The Canucks announced that Noah Juulsen's injury would keep him out for the remainder of the season, and youngsters on the Canucks have an opportunity due to that.

Spot up for grabs for Victor Mancini

With Noah Juulsen being placed on injured reserve and expected to miss 12 weeks, the Canucks now have 8 defenseman on the NHL roster including youngsters Mancini and Elias Pettersson.

With Quinn Hughes health problems seemingly not over, there could be even more opportunity for defensemen on the Canucks.

While the Canucks could opt to go with the more experienced Carson Soucy or Derek Forbort on the 3rd pair, Mancini brings an intriguing blend of size and offense, and is also a right handed shot, something the Canucks now only have two of.

Mancini also brings slightly more experience than the young Elias Pettersson, who is in his first full North American season.

With the Canucks also apparently open to moving Carson Soucy, there could be even more open slots on the blue line.
