Vancouver Canucks general manager Patrik Allvin commented on J.T. Miller's absence during a recent interview with Sportsnet.
After Tuesday night, the Vancouver Canucks will be at quarter mark of the 2024-25 season and so far, while it's been a tale of two stories home and away, they've played pretty well, sitting at 10-6-3 through 19 games, good for fifth in the Pacific Division.
Over the last week, the Vancouver Canucks have been without the services of forward Miller as he took leave of absence for personal reasons.
It's unclear when Miller will return to the Vancouver Canucks lineup, and that's the least of anyone's worries right now as everyone is hoping that he is doing well and is spending his time with his family.
Patrik Allvin comments on J.T. Miller's absence from the Vancouver Canucks
During an interview with Sportsnet's Iain MacIntyre, Allvin spoke for the first time about Miller since he took his leave of absence where he said he's proud of the forward for seeking help.
Allvin added that he believes Miller will be a better person, teammate and hockey player when he returns to the Canucks and that they all miss him right now.
"First and foremost, I'm very proud of J.T. seeking help. I don't know if he said it, but I believe that he's going to be a better person, better teammate and better hockey player when he returns. And we sure miss him; he's such an impactful hockey player. I think we have and the league has all the right support to help him," Allvin said.
Miller, 30, has appeared in 17 games for the Vancouver Canucks this season where he's registered 16 points (six goals, 10 assists), nine penalty minutes and is a plus-one.
The most important thing for Miller right now is to ensure that he's doing well and when he feels like it's time to come back, then it'll be time, as there's no need to rush him.
When he returns, it'll give a big boost to the Vancouver Canucks, both from a performance standpoint, but also a morale one too as he's a leader in that locker room and looked up to by the younger players and prospects.
