The Minnesota Vikings are in a fascinating spot when it comes to the NFL Draft. General manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah has a history of taking high-upside athletes in the first round.
Lewis Cine and Dallas Turner were both explosive athletes when they were drafted and Jordan Addison was an excellent mover for his position. They could go a myriad of different ways in April's NFL Draft and one player continues to stand out.
Nick Emmanwori continues to be popular NFL Draft selection for Vikings
One of the more popular selections in the NFL Draft recently is South Carolina safety Nick Emmanwori. He's an incredibly explosive athlete who can do everything you want from a safety on the back end.
The latest mock draft from us at A to Z Sports comes from the duo of Rob Gregson and Adam Holt and they sent the Vikings Emmanwori.
The Vikings will have the hitman back for another year, but Harrison Smith won't be in the Purple and Gold forever. So why not find his successor and a perfect fit for Brian Flores’ defense via Emmanwori. -- Gregson
I wrote about Emmanwori extensively in my scouting report on him before free agency (hence the Camryn Bynum reference) and he could change the Vikings' defense as a whole.
Emmanwori is the prototype of versatile safeties. He can fly across the field as a deep safety and in the box as a blitzer and run defender. He's especially good when it comes to attacking the football in the air.
The Vikings current safety room doesn't have a player like Emmanwori. Camryn Bynum is a good player, but he doesn't have the range to be a game-changer. That is what Emmanwori can do for the Vikings.
Imagine what defensive coordinator Brian Flores could do with a joker like Emmanwori, especially since he would have at least a year with Harrison Smith to really elevate his game to another level.
