Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is among the eight finalists for the NFL’s Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award.
The award is presented annually to the NFL player “who best demonstrates the qualities of on-field sportsmanship, including fair play, respect for the game and opponents, and integrity in competition.”
The NFL announced the eight finalists for the 2024 honor on Wednesday. The other finalists are:
- Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen
- Arizona Cardinals safety Budda Baker
- Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby
- San Francisco 49ers fullback Kyle Juszczyk
- Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp
- Los Angeles Chargers outside linebacker Khalil Mack
- Seattle Seahawks defensive lineman Leonard Williams
The finalists were selected from the 32 players nominated by their teams for the award by four players from the NFL Legends Community -- Warrick Dunn, Larry Fitzgerald, Curtis Martin and Leonard Wheeler. From the eight finalists, each team’s players will submit a consensus vote of their choice for the winner. As in Pro Bowl voting, a team cannot vote for its own player.
The original list of nominees included three other Alabama alumni – Houston Texans defensive end Will Anderson Jr., Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Devonta Smith and New York Jets defensive tackle Quinnen Williams – and a former Auburn standout, New England Patriots cornerback Jonathan Jones.
The winner will be announced during the annual NFL Honors program on Feb. 6. The winner will receive a $25,000 donation from the NFL Foundation for the charity of his choice.
