Travis Kelce’s Interview With Saquon Barkley Catches Attention

Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs are one win away from pulling off the first three-peat in NFL history. Only Saquon Barkley and the Philadelphia Eagles stand in their way in Super Bowl LIX.

Both teams made their way to New Orleans, Louisiana, and on Monday, they headed to Caesars Superdome, home of the New Orleans Saints, for Super Bowl opening night. This gives the players from both teams the opportunity to speak to the media alongside each other.

After the captains were introduced, the players were split into pairs (one player from each team) for separate interviews. After Jalen Hurts and Patrick Mahomes had their turn, it was Kelce and Barkley who were paired up.

Barkley was asked about his debut season in Philadelphia and potentially breaking the rushing yards record in the big game.

"It's special," Barkley said. "I can't do it without my teammates. I'm just happy to be here. The record is cool and all, but the main thing is winning a Super Bowl, and that's our mindset."

Kelce was then asked what a fifth Super Bowl appearance means for him with Barkley on his shoulder watching.

"I mean, we're a family in Kansas City," Kelce commented. "You know I treat the kingdom like they're my own and like I grew up in KC my entire life. You only get to Super Bowls if you have that family atmosphere year in and year out... I'm just so fortunate I get to do it with guys like Andy Reid and Pat Mahomes and Chris Jones. You know we go a lot of familiar faces, but we got a lot of new faces. And I want it just as bad for those guys as I want it for the guys that have been here for a while."

NFL fans had mixed reactions to Kelce's interview alongside Barkley, taking to social media to leave their thoughts.

'Saquon is better than TKelce," one fan said.

"Kelce > Barkley," added another.

"The fact that they paired him with Saquon instead of the Eagles tight end," wrote a third.

"This truly hits different after the Luka trade like players are truly lucky to stay in one place their entire career and yeah let me cry some more bc Barkley is showing here," posted a fourth.

"Saquon Better," commented a fifth.

Kelce and the Chiefs are aiming for their fourth Super Bowl win in six seasons, while the Eagles are looking for payback from the championship loss two seasons ago. They will battle it out on Sunday at 6:30 p.m. ET.
