Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs has made no secret of his fandom for NBA superstar LeBron James. Actually, there was a time when Kelce actually wanted to be a star in the NBA instead of the NFL, when he was much younger. But, thankfully, he went another direction.
One recent time that Kelce talked abut his love for James and the NBA was during the April 18 episode of the “New Heights” podcast, where Kelce talked about a sport that he would love to play besides football.
During that episode, Kelce was asked by a listener which podcast guest he would like to swap lives with for 48 hours. He said that he would love to swap lives with James and started gushing over his love for the NBA. “My answer is LeBron James, because I want to play in the NBA,” Kelce said. “I’ve always wanted to play in the NBA.”
Kelce even said that he has wanted to play in the NBA since he was a child, stating, “It was a dream I’ve had since I was a kid, and I would love to know what that dream actually feels like.”
Now, Kelce is weighing in on some James news, and his fiery response is perfect.

On Saturday, James shared a post on social media about his new partnership with luxury watch brand Richard Mille. On Instagram, the NBA star showed off a limited-edition watch that features his logo and signature, adding that only 150 pieces were available, making it very exclusive.
“Thank you to the incredible team for the opportunity to bring this to life, the unbelievable details, storytelling, and purpose behind this watch,” he said in the post.
Kelce was impressed. He didn’t write any words on the photo, but he commented with fire emojis, plus some other fun emojis, such as spiral-eyes face emojis.
Other sports personalities also commented on James’ post, including Caitlin Clark, Satou Sabally, Kyle Kuzma, Tristan Thompson and P.J. Tucker.
Followers commented on Kelce’s post, one stating, “You gotta get one.” So, maybe we’ll see Kelce in this spiffy watch sometime.
Travis Kelce’s Advice to a Rookie
It’s great to see so many fellow athletes supporting James, because it shows respect within different areas of sports. It wasn’t just basketball stars. James is certainly a figure that goes beyond the basketball court.
Switching gears back to the NFL, during the same episode of the podcast mentioned above, Kelce was also asked to give some advice for new players who may be drafted to the Chiefs and if, looking back, he would have done something different when he was starting out.
“When you’re a rookie, you could just get up and go,” Kelce stated on the show. “And on top of that … my first couple years I was dealing with injuries, so I was in Kansas City, and I was working on rehab, and I was working on strengthening a lot of things more than I was working on my overall game.”
