At the start of training camp, Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid spoke highly of tight end Travis Kelce.
“He’s phenomenal,” Reid told reporters. “I mean, he’s been great for this organization. Anytime you’re with a guy for 13 years, you end up being close to that player. And so I’ve watched him grow as a player, as a man.”
At age 35, and entering the final year of his contract with the Chiefs, it’s not crazy to assume this will be Kelce’s last season in the NFL. But Reid isn’t jumping to any conclusions.
“You hope he plays forever, but that’s probably not gonna happen to any of us,” Reid said of Kelce possibly returning for another year. “So whenever he decides to hang it up, he’s built a great legacy here. And if he decides this is it, it’s it. If not, more power to him.”

Kelce, who spent the bulk of the offseason focusing on his training in Southern Florida and spending quality time with his girlfriend, Taylor Swift. Ever since Super Bowl LIX, the veteran tight end appeared to be letting his hair grow out.
During the offseason, he either slicked his long locks back during public appearances or tucked them under a hat. Arriving at training camp in St. Joseph, Missouri, he let his long hair flow loose. However, ahead of the first practice with pads on Sunday, July 27, the 10-time Pro Bowler revealed an all-new look.

Flipping off his helmet, Kelce revealed a buzz cut. Fans strongly reacted to his new look on social media. One fan account lamented, “His beautiful hair is gone 😭😭.” One person replied, “Whaaaaat?!?!?! 😳😭 but I mean, he looks good great like this too 😂.”
Many people assumed he chopped off all his hair due to the heat and humidity in St. Joseph in the dead of summer. One man commented, “Way too hot with the long hair!” Another fan added, “He hates being too hot… I get it, but still…”
Back in May, Kelce lamented over the Chiefs heading to São Paulo, Brazil, for their season opener against the Los Angeles Chargers due to the weather.
“Sao Paulo, is that by the water? I’d rather it be dry than humid, I’m a sweaty guy,” he said on his “New Heights” podcast. “If it is humid, I am going to be miserable. But we’re going to find a way to get a win.”

Reid also commented on Kelce’s physical appearance during training camp. “He’s svelte right now. He’s doing a great job. He’s in great shape. You can see he’s been working out,” the 67-year-old head coach said.
While Kelce trimmed down, a rumor spread like wildfire this offseason that he dropped 25 pounds since losing to the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl. However, Kelce shut the rumor down during mandatory minicamp in June.
“First of all, I never said that,” the 6-foot-5 tight end told reporters. “Don’t believe everything you read on the Internet. I’m down some weight from the end of the season last year. This year, I got some time to really focus on some form running. Certainly feeling good, and it’ll pay off.”
