Travis Kelce overcame his biggest fear during Taylor Swift's Eras Tour debut with help from a former coach

Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce had a familiar voice in the back of his head during a key moment in his Era's Tour debut.

Speaking on the Season 2 finale of The New Heights Show podcast, Chiefs TE Travis Kelce recapped his Era's Tour debut in London at Wembley Stadium, where he joined his girlfriend Taylor Swift on stage during her set. He didn't have much time to practice before his appearance as a backup dancer, but he wowed the crowd with an iconic heel click. Plus, he got to carry his girlfriend during one portion of the show.

That moment had Kelce extra frightened of messing up the show, but he revealed that a phrase uttered by former Chiefs OC Eric Bieniemy was also on his mind.

“The one thing I told myself is do not drop the baby," Kelce said. "Do not drop Taylor on the way over to this damn couch. I was going to do like some extra stuff and who knows maybe if I ever do it again I might do it. But the golden rule was, do not drop Taylor. Get her to the couch safely. Hold onto the baby, hold onto the baby! Coach (Eric) Bieniemy always used to say, 'That ball has our dreams, goals, and aspirations. You do not drop that ball!' Shoutout to EB, over there at UCLA now, man."

Bieniemy was always known for evoking the many platitudes of football as an offensive coordinator in Kansas City. Even after he left the team, those have stuck with the players. I'm just not sure that carrying Taylor Swift across the stage at Wembley Stadium was what he had in mind when he was coaching that particular point. Alas, it helped Kelce ensure that he kept his eyes on the prize.

"It was awesome, and I didn't disappoint Taylor," he concluded. "So that's all that really matters."

Should Kelce return to the stage, maybe he'll get to do the extra things he had in mind. Perhaps, he'll get to sell Taylor on his original idea of being on one of the bicycles when she performs "Blank Space."
