Top NHL insider disrespects Leon Draisaitl in MVP level season

The Edmonton Oilers are finally back in the win column, securing two crucial victories in the Empire State. That said, Leon Draisaitl has continued his dominance and continues to be a front runner for the league MVP. However, insider Elliotte Friedman made a controversial statement his 32 Thoughts Podcast, blatantly disrespecting Draisaitl's Hart Trophy calibre season.

Let's face it, Leon Draisaitl will be taking home the Rocket Richard Trophy, but he's definitely in the conversation to take home the Hart Trophy as well.

Currently, the 'Deutsch Dangler' leads the league with 49 goals and is just two points behind Nathan MacKinnon, who has 103 points, for the most points in the league.

Elliotte Friedman disrespects Draisaitl

Leon Draisaitl has proven to be one of the most dynamic goal scorers in the NHL, yet he was overlooked in Elliotte Friedman's top rankings.

Take a look at what Friedman had to say during his 32 Thoughts Podcasst:

On 32 thoughts today they were talking about Matthews and his struggles.

Friedman said that Matthews is one of the leagues most dangerous goal scorers if not THE most dangerous but then he said "well maybe this season Ovechkin takes that top spot"

Uhhh hello? Draisaitl?

Although Elliotte Friedman is veteran insider with respectable takes, he's out to lunch with his assessment.

For the past seven seasons, Leon Draisaitl has consistently ranked among the NHL's top 10 in scoring, showcasing a remarkable ability to find the back of the net on a regular rasis.

Auston Matthews reached an incredible milestone last season, scoring 69 goals.

While that achievement is certainly impressive, Draisaitl has already reached the 50-goal mark more than three times and is on track to do so for a fourth time this season.

Auston Matthews is an offensive weapon -- but I'd pick Draisaitl anytime, and it's not even close.
