The Los Angeles Rams will soon find themselves in the rapids of their rafting trip through the 2025 season. Once the bullets start flying, it will come down to the man in the perfect position to make the perfect play, but it will take many steps to get to that moment, including being in the right place in the planning stage.
Some players like Matthew Stafford, Davante Adams, and Jared Verse are obviously set up to be the hero, but there will be others who could step up to the surprise of many.
Here’s a look at three Los Angeles Rams players fans need to be aware of heading into the season.
Omar Speights, LB, Los Angeles Rams

It’s easy to look at the obvious candidates, but linebacker Omar Speights is going well under the radar heading into training camp. While his pass coverage leaves plenty of room for improvement, his run-stuffing ability is impressive (78.3 PFF grade, 33rd out of all linebackers).
If he can shut down running backs on his side of the defense and force the opponent to be one-dimensional, it will make it that much easier for the Rams to scheme against.
If opponents can only rush to the opposite side of the field to Speights, the Rams can add extra bodies to that side and also back the offense into passing situations much more often. This could be season-changing over time.

Tutu Atwell, WR

Tutu Atwell has trended up over the course of his career in terms of catches and receiving yards, culminating with a personal best of 42 receptions and 562 yards in 2024. In a vacuum, Atwell’s trajectory is worth noting, but there’s another layer raising the chances of a breakout.
Heading into a make-or-break one-year deal, he will be motivated to put out the best season he can. Combined with his already trending-up trajectory, it could be a season to remember for Atwell, who has seemingly slowly built up to this moment.
If Adams takes a step back as he gets deeper into his 30s, Atwell could slide in to have his moment.
Jarquez Hunter, RB

When many think of the Los Angeles Rams’ backfield heading into the season, they will think primarily of Kyren Williams, who has been the unchallenged backfield leader over the past two years. However, rookie running back Jarquez Hunter could easily find himself as an RB2 in a committee role with Williams, putting himself in line for 150+ carries this season.
Hunter was drafted in the fourth round, which is why many might be glossing over him. That said, Hunter averaged 6.4 yards per carry in his final college season and earned 15 touchdowns over the course of his final two seasons.
The resume screams for the Rams to give him a workload greater than a typical backup.
