Tom Thibodeau Gives Decisive Verdict on New York Knicks’ Players Resting

The New York Knicks are gearing up for the final stretch of the season with a strong sense of urgency, holding a 40-22 record and sitting third in the Eastern Conference standings.

With just 20 games remaining before the playoffs, the team has been one of the league's most consistent performers, although they've had some issues in defense.

The franchise expects that with the arrival of Mitchell Robinson after his prolonged injury, their defensive problems can be solved.

Offensively, they rank No. 5 in the league, averaging 118.2 points per game.

Their defense hasn't been solid, with a defensive rating of 114.0 points per game, placing them No. 17.

Tom Thibodeau gives verdict on Knicks players resting

Known for his demanding coaching style, Thibodeau has faced questions about whether he plans to rest his key players during this critical stretch.

However, head coach Tom Thibodeau is not allowing the team to take a break.

When asked directly about the idea of resting players, Thibodeau dismissed the notion.

“No. There’s still a long way to go. So you just gotta keep playing,” he said.

This move is in contrast, for example, to what the Oklahoma City Thunder have done, where the coaching staff has decided to rest their core players. Up to five players will not be playing in tonight's game against the Blazers for the Thunder.

On the other hand, players like Jalen Brunson, OG Anunoby, and Karl-Anthony Towns are among the most heavily used in the league, with four of the Knicks’ starters ranking in the top 20 for minutes played per game.

The Knicks will face several tough matchups in the coming weeks, including games against powerhouses like the Golden State Warriors and the Sacramento Kings.
