Three players the Raiders should bring back in 2025

The Las Vegas Raiders have 17 unrestricted free agents in 2025, leaving first-year general manager John Spytek with tough decisions to make.

When free agency begins March 12, the Raiders will have $92 million in cap space, according to Over The Cap. ESPN recently came out with a story of which players each NFL team should re-sign and listed Robert Spillane of the Raiders. The Raiders will have a lot of decisions to make, but for now, here are the three players the Raiders must keep:

Robert Spillane, MLB

Spillane was a free agent pickup for the Raiders in 2023 after four seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He signed a two-year contract worth $7 million, and made the most of his short time with the team. He showed consistency for the Raiders and was available.

Spillane finished the 2024 season with a team-leading 158 tackles with seven passes defensed and two interceptions. In two seasons with the Raiders, he had five interceptions, 11 pass deflections and 306 tackles in all 34 games played. The high number in tackles and his reliability is the reason why the Raiders should bring back Spillane, who is an important piece for defensive coordinator Patrick Graham.

If the theme is stability for the Raiders, they should give Spillane a big contract for his contributions.

Tre'von Moehrig, S

Moehrig was drafted by the Raiders in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft. Each season, he just kept getting better and understanding Graham's scheme. He may be viewed as one of the top safeties in the free agency class, which should be a no-brainer why Moehrig should be another priority for the Raiders. He's also been reliable and started 64 of the 66 games in four seasons, totaling six interceptions, two fumble recoveries and 297 tackles.

Moehrig had a career-high 104 tackles this past season, which likely puts him in high demand from other teams. CBS Sports Jordan Dajani thinks the Indianapolis Colts should sign Moehrig. The Raiders may realize Moehrig is valuable and cannot allow him to leave.

Adam Butler, DT

Without Christian Wilkins due to injury, Butler came through for the Raiders, making key tackles in short-yard situations. He played in 17 games and had five sacks, four passes defensed and a forced fumble.

He joined the Raiders in 2023 and re-signed with the team and made his mark this season. He proved to be a player the Raiders could count on when he ended the season fifth on the team with 858 snap counts.  The Raiders should bring him back to give the Raiders a strong unit on the line when Wilkins returns.

It would help free up Maxx Crosby and whoever is on the opposite side, especially since Graham is back for his fourth season.
