There Is So Much At Stake For the Edmonton Oilers Going Into Stanley Cup Finals

The Edmonton Oilers have much at stake going into the Stanley Cup Finals, which starts on Wednesday. The Oilers are headed back to the final for a second straight year and will seek revenge against the Florida Panthers after losing last season. Edmonton seeking revenge reveals just how much is at stake.

Connor McDavid Is Searching For His First Championship

Connor McDavid has been one of the best players in the NHL since he was drafted, but the one thing he’s missing on his impressive resume is a Stanley Cup victory. He and the Oilers have the experience from going to the final last year, so this needs to be the year that McDavid wins it. As long as the Edmonton Oilers have McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, they’ll have a shot, but getting to the Cup Final is never a sure thing.

This is the ninth season McDavid and Draisaitl have played together, and it’s only their second Stanley Cup Final appearance. It just goes to show how difficult it is to reach the Stanley Cup Final.

The Edmonton Oilers Will Have More Challenges Than Last Year

The Oilers will have to dig deep to win the Cup this year. They’ll be without Zach Hyman, who was injured in Game 4 of the Western Conference finals on a hit by Dallas star Mason Marchment. Hyman is out for the remainder of the playoffs. His injury required surgery.

Hyman has been a crucial part of the Edmonton Oilers’ runs to the Finals. In last year’s playoffs, Hyman had 16 goals and 6 assists in 25 games. This year in the playoffs, he had 5 goals and 6 assists in 15 games. He’s a monster in the playoffs, and the Oilers must find a way to finish the job without him.

Last Thoughts

Although the Oilers were healthy last year, this year is their best chance to win it. They have the experience and know what it takes to play in the Stanley Cup Final. They need to capitalize on their experience from last year and use it to fuel them this season.
