Jax Taylor denied faking a heart attack after Tuesday’s episode of The Valley mentioned an alleged medical emergency he suffered while in rehab.
As Janet Caperna, 35, accused Jax, 45, of attempting to get attention from his estranged wife, Brittany Cartwright, 36, and Jason Caperna, 41, described the incident as “too weird,” Jax said that while he was encouraged to go to the hospital amid struggles with stress, he never actually did.
“I don’t know how I can convince somebody out of rehab. I mean, I’m good, but I’m not that good. They test you. How do you fake a heart attack? They have to put the devices on you and all that,” Jax explained on the June 10 episode of The Valley: After Show.
Although Jax shot down the idea that he pretended he was having a heart attack, he did say that he fell ill and was advised by staff to “go to the hospital.” However, despite his vitals reportedly being abnormal, he didn’t want to go.
“My stress was out of control pretty much the whole time there,” he explained, noting that it weighed on him that filming was going on without him.
“I had to sign [a document] saying I’m not gonna go. But, no, I can’t manipulate a facility. That’s kind of crazy,” he concluded.
Still, Brittany insisted in her own segment that Jax “[faked] a heart attack.”
“He manipulated the person at the front desk to lie. The therapist told us the next day that he did not go to the hospital,” she recalled.
Meanwhile, Janet confirmed Jax “never left the facility” and “had no heart attack-like symptoms.”
“He was just trying to garner sympathy from Brittany cuz she wasn’t responding,” Janet suspected. “I think Jax was just like, having FOMO in rehab, Brittany wasn’t responding to him for a while, so he wanted to get to her and make her worry.”
Jason was also wary of the situation, admitting that he had questioned Jax himself.
“I’m like, ‘Dude, what the hell?’ He’s like, ‘That never happened.’ It’s hard for me to believe that, like, a person would do that. I’ve never gotten to the bottom of that story. I’ve never even wanted to think about it because it’s too weird,” he admitted.
Also on The Valley: After Show, Brittany explained why her plan to open her own bar, Britt’s, in West Hollywood never happened.
“I was going to open Britt’s. [But the owners] straight-up sold all of Rocco’s,” she shared. “[I found] out because somebody sent [Zack Wickham] a thing that it was listed. I had picked out everything to decorate. It was gonna be so cute. We were painting the outside pink. It was gonna be so cute and then they just sold it.”
According to Brittany, the owners tried to get her involved with Jax’s Studio City, but she wasn’t interested.
“They wanted to rebrand Jax’s. And they wanted me to have nights there and Jax [to] have nights there. I said, ‘I appreciate it … But I’m not going into business with him ever again,’” she shared.
After noting that Britt’s since-scrapped deal “wouldn’t have happened without [him],” Jax claimed his partners came to him first to make sure he was on board and guarantee him 30% of the potential earnings.
Once the deal fell through, and amid Jax’s newfound sobriety, they instead opted for a revamp.
“I kind of want to step down a little bit. I wanna rename the bar. I want the bar to live on its own,” he explained.
After considering bringing Tom Schwartz, 42, into the business, Jax reached out to Brock Davies for assistance with the renovation. But while Brock was open to helping, he made it clear that he did not want to get into business with Jax, even if Schwartz is included.
“I don’t think I’m going down the bar route,” he noted.
Meanwhile, Schwartz, who closed Schwartz & Sandy’s after Tom Sandoval‘s cheating scandal, admitted that having a bar with your name on it “is a f*cking nightmare.”
“I’m a little traumatized. I’ll be honest,” he shared.
