Goode and Marie both proposed within days of each other during a romantic getaway in Italy.

"It was really crazy because we both have been thinking about getting engaged and looking at rings for a while now. We were just trying to find the right time and place to do it," Goode exclusively tells Us Weekly about her initial plan to surprise Marie. "Before I could even propose to her, she surprised me, which I was blown away [by]."

While Goode was planning to pop the question, it was Marie who took her partner off guard with her own proposal.

"We didn't want anything to be too crazy over the top. We wanted it to be intimate and memorable. But the one thing I did say is my dream would be something in Europe," Marie recalled to Us. "Once [we booked our tickets for] Mallorca, I was like, 'Oh, I think she might try to use this opportunity to propose. But I wanted to give her a special proposal because she deserves it. It wasn't just about what I wanted."

Marie specifically wanted the special moment to take place in Lake Como, adding, "I was like, 'OK, this cannot be more perfect because she absolutely loves being here. .. We went to this place called Villa Monastero; It's one of the most beautiful villas and gardens around Lake Como. You just walk around and look at the beautiful water. I even found this spot that is notorious for best views and best sunsets."

Goode had no idea what was going to happen when they got to their destination.

"I thought we were just going to take a photo or a TikTok. But then she got down on one knee," she revealed. "Then the next day I just kept thinking, 'I hope she doesn't think I don't have a ring for her.' But my plan still had to go down. So I was trying to figure out how to keep this under wraps for a day."

The reality star had to pretend she "didn't have a ring" for Marie so she could pull off her own surprise. As they celebrate the milestone moment, Goode and Marie are looking ahead at the future.

"We both honestly want to start a family really soon. That's our main goal. We both want to be moms and for us, we do want to make sure we're married first. That's something that means a lot to our family," Goode explained. "So we wanted to just jump on it. It felt right."

The engagement getaway was a nice break for Goode and Marie after filming season 2 of Bravo's The Valley.

"We just have been so busy with the show and with life. [Now we] finally had time to slow down and find our rings, so it just all made sense. I would have done it, like, a year or two years ago, in retrospect, but I'm still thankful," Marie added before sharing the moment she knew Goode was The One. "I knew because I moved from New Jersey to L.A. when we first started dating. We went on a couple dates, and I was always supposed to be in L.A. for about three weeks. After, like, one or two dates, I decided to stay a little longer and then I ended up just moving. It just was how natural and effortless it was to be with her."

For Goode, that realization came even sooner, with her telling Us, "The moment I actually met her years ago, we were just friends. I knew she was always going to be my wife, but I just didn't figure out how. She was dating someone but then we started dating, and there was just a moment where I was like, 'She's the one.' I remember telling someone that I was going to marry Melissa. I just didn't know when, but I knew it was going to happen."

The pair have already shared the exciting news with their costars from The Valley.

"It's so funny because I had Brittany [Cartwright], Kristen [Doute] and Zack [Wickham] asking if I did it already. But we shared it with them. They're so excited and I love how supportive they've all been," Goode noted.

Marie was overwhelmed by their entire friend group helping out. "We talked to Zack about rings, and he went ring shopping with Jasmine too. I would say Kristen too because [she knew it was coming] so she's been very anxiously waiting. Luke [Broderick] as well was sending me little things to help out."

"You'll see in this upcoming season that we did some shopping together as well," Marie shared before Goode added, "People will be seeing more of Melissa this season. So I'm really excited for people to see us together in our element."

Marie appreciated getting the chance to show off her love for Goode on screen, adding, "This year, I was in the weeds of things a lot more. So I'm excited for everybody to see too and to introduce the world to our relationship."

There is even a chance that Goode and Marie's wedding could be featured on the show.

"It's something that I would do. You sign up to do the show so you open your life to be on display," Goode told Us while Marie confirmed she would also be "open" to the possibility.
