The New York Jets Urged to Add Recorded-Breaking Offensive Weapon

The New York Jets are coming off of another disappointing season in 2023. They finished with only seven wins and missed the postseason. Head coach Robert Saleh’s team suffered numerous injuries, and several key players missed games.

The Jets’ starting quarterback, Aaron Rodgers, tore his Achilles in week one against the Buffalo Bills early in the game. The Jets still pulled out the win, but many fans felt it was a loss, considering the starting quarterback suffered a season-ending injury.

With all the hype Jets fans put on Rodgers going into the season last year and being cut very short, the hype has transferred into this season. It’s hard not to agree with optimistic Jet fans about the outcome of next season if Aaron Rodgers could return to MVP form and the defense continues to dominate on that side of the ball.

The New York Jets defense was among the top three in the NFL in yards allowed, trailing only the Chiefs and the Browns. According to PFF, the Jets were the highest-graded defense in the league last season and second in 2022, the season prior. It is safe to say the Jets have an impressive defense, and this team could be contenders if the offense could get going.

Last season, after Rodgers’ injury, the Jets’ offense stagnated and struggled to score points. With Zach Wilson, the team’s former second-round pick, stepping in at quarterback, the Jets’ offense lacked the ability to attack downfield. Wilson was benched at times for veteran quarterbacks Trevor Siemian and Tim Boyle. Neither Siemian nor Boyle performed any better.

The Jets’ offense is loaded with talented weapons for Rodgers, with Garrett Wilson and Breece Hall both showing promise. Garrett Wilson, the 2022 NFL Rookie of the Year award winner, is coming off back-to-back 1,000-yard-plus seasons. Wilson has yet to have a consistent quarterback throwing him the ball and could take another leap next season with a healthy Aaron Rodgers.

Breece Hall is coming off a fantastic season in which he totaled nearly 1,600 yards from scrimmage and catapulted himself into the full-time starting running back role. In 2022, Hall’s rookie season, he tore his ACL during a mid-season game. With a grade three tear, Hall missed the remaining games of the season and was on a snap count early on this season. If Hall can stay healthy, he’s primed for a massive season in 2024.

The New York Jets Could Sign Micheal Thomas

The New York Jets have talented weapons but could benefit from adding a dynamic receiver. According to Pro Football Network, the Jets should add veteran receiver Micheal Thomas.

“Michael Thomas remains unsigned,” Pro Football Network wrote. “While he may not be the 149-catch threat he once was in 2019, he can still give a needy WR room a jolt.”Ezoic

Michael Thomas has spent his entire career with the New Orleans Saints but was cut earlier this offseason. In 2019, Micheal Thomas was a league leader in receptions with 149 and receiving yards with 1,725. Thomas is primarily a slot receiver, and Aaron Rodgers could benefit from having him as a weapon.
