The NFL world was hit with some shocking news on Saturday as New Orleans Saints QB Derek Carr announced that he is retiring.
This puts the Saints in a challenging situation without a true veteran QB option on their roster. The team is now set to enter training camp with 2025 second-round pick Tyler Shough battling with Spencer Rattler and Jake Haener. If the team elects to add a veteran who could help ease Shough onto the field early in his career. And the New York Giants might have one of the best options they could consider, and it would create one of the funniest trades ever.
Should the Giants trade the Saints' Jameis Winston after Derek Carr's retirement

The Giants completely reshaped their quarterback room in the offseason by signing veterans Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston. They followed those signings up by trading up to draft Jaxson Dart. So, if the Giants feel like they could afford moving off of one of their veterans in the room, they could be a great trade partner for the Saints.
Before signing with the Giants this offseason, Winston had spent time with three different teams, one of which was the Saints from 2020 to 2023. He appeared in 21 games with New Orleans and logged 10 starts. The Saints now have a whole new coaching staff, but the front office remains the same.
Winston has only been officially a Giant since March 31st, so it would be pretty wild if they were able to flip him for a draft pick already. The Saints' front office being comfortable with Winston already and him having the chance to start for the 2025 season could make this deal make sense for everyone. It would allow the Giants to have Dart be their backup QB behind Wilson and keep Tommy DeVito as their emergency QB three.
