The Green Bay Packers Offense Gets Exciting Wide Receiver Back at Practice on Thursday

The Green Bay Packers are busily preparing for their Week Three matchup against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday. They are coming off of a 16-10 win against the Indianapolis Colts that saw backup quarterback Malik Willis start in place of the injured Jordan Love. He completed 12 of his 14 passes for 122 yards, one touchdown, no interceptions, and a 126.8 passer rating.

Over half of these passing yards went to second-year wide receiver Jayden Reed, who had three receptions for 62 yards in the win. He also added two carries for 37 yards in the win.

Reed, of course, is a major part of Green Bay’s offense after leading the team in receptions (64) and receiving yards (793) last season. He also tied Romeo Doubs for the team lead in touchdowns (eight).

His 64 receptions in 2023 are a Packers franchise record for the most by a rookie wide receiver. Sterling Sharpe held the record prior with 55 in 1988.

Yesterday, the Packers released their first injury report of the week leading up to their tilt with the Titans. Surprisingly, Love was back at practice, albeit in a limited capacity, and could return on Sunday in Tennessee. A final determination, however, has not been made.

One other surprise, though not a positive one, was that Reed was held out of practice with a calf injury. With 173 receiving yards this season, Reed is once again the team’s leading pass catcher (by a wide margin). Since Love’s status for Sunday is yet to be determined, the prospect of facing the Titans without their starting quarterback and top wide receiver made many fans concerned.

However, these fans got good news on Thursday.

During warmups of Thursday’s practice, multiple Packers media members shared that Reed had returned to practice after missing just one day:

Jordan Love is practicing for the second straight day. Packers are in pads.

While it is not yet known how much of a participant Reed is, the fact that he returned to practice is a positive sign that he will be able to play on Sunday.

As one can see in Matt Schneidman’s post above, Pro Bowl left guard Elgton Jenkins also returned to practice after sitting out Wednesday with a glute injury.
