The Golden Bachelorette: Signs Chock Chapple Won't Propose To Joan Vassos If He Gets The Final Rose
The Golden Bachelorette season 1 contestant Chock Chapple could win Joan Vassos' heart, but there are signs that he won't propose to her. Joan, a 61-year-old private school administrator from Maryland, has been through so much over the last few years. The love of her life, John Vassos, died in 2021 after 32 happy years of marriage and four children together. Joan was deeply in love with her husband, so the loss was devastating for Joan.
Somehow, Joan was able to pick herself up off the floor and agree to be a contestant on The Golden Bachelor season 1, but she had to leave early due to a family emergency. Though she thought her Bachelor journey was over, she was cast as the lead in The Golden Bachelorette season 1. She met 24 single Golden men, including 60-year-old Chock Chapple. Chock is one of her remaining three men, but, if he wins, he likely won't be getting down on one knee and proposing to Joan.
Chock Is Still Mourning His Late Fiancée
Shared Tragedy
Long before joining the cast of The Golden Bachelorette season 1, Chock had a complicated love life. After Chock's 12-year marriage to Heather Chapple ended, he met and began dating Katherine Elizabeth White Goree. They were engaged for nine years before she was diagnosed with cancer and passed away in 2022. She left behind two children.
This shared sense of a lost love is something that Joan and Chock have in common. Throughout The Golden Bachelorette season 1, they've both shared their sad love stories, and it really bonded them together. Chock doesn't seem to be ready to move on from his late fiancée, and Joan doesn't seem to be ready to move on from her late husband.
Joan Has Said She's Not Sure She'll Get Engaged
Only Fools Rush In
In a May interview with CNN, Joan made it clear she would not rush into marriage with anyone she meets on The Golden Bachelorette season 1. She made the comments soon after The Golden Bachelor season 1's Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist announced their divorce. Joan simply feels people need more time to get to know each other before committing to marriage. This means Bachelor Nationcan forget about another Golden Bachelor wedding special.
Chock & Joan Don't Seem Ready For That Kind Of Commitment
It's Too Soon
With The Golden Bachelorette season 1 nearing its conclusion, Joan has three remaining men to choose from; Chock, 66-year-old Guy Gansert and 69-year-old Pascal Ibgui. None of the relationships feel far enough along to end in marriage anytime soon, and that goes for the relationship between Joan and Chock too. If Chock wins, Joan may not want him to offer her a proposal.
