Frontrunner of The Golden Bachelorette, Chock Chapple, has drawn attention for his overly controlling behavior throughout the show. The Kansas native has made an impression on leading lady, Joan Vassos, bonding over their shared perspectives and similar romantic pasts. Despite the arguably concerning conduct, Chock is one of only two contestants left. Now, viewers are left wondering whether Chock or Guy Gansert will ultimately win Joan’s heart.

The Golden Bachelorette: Chock Chapple's Possible Womanizing Might Make Him Joan's Worst Option (Is He Really The Safest Choice?) SPOILERS

While Joan and Guy seem to have great chemistry, Chock maintained most of Joan’s interest during The Golden Bachelorette season 1. He was the first to receive a one-on-one date with the private school administrator, indicating an immediate attraction. The two commiserated over the grief of losing a partner to cancer but shared a desire to find love again. They appear to have seen it in one another with Chock being especially vocal about his feelings. However, his early proclamation of love, among other factors, has left fans wondering if he is truly the best match for The Golden Bachelorette.

Chock attracted backlash for his behavior during the group bowling date. With several contestants claiming the hopeless romantic was overly possessive of Joan, some have wondered whether he is manipulating the competition. Pascal Ibgui, the Frenchman who self-eliminated with only a couple of episodes remaining, had choice words for Chock.

In an interview with Glamour magazine, Pascal revealed his impression of Chock’s behavior. He believes Chock isn't genuine in his pursuits. Pascal claimed, as mature men with a long dating history, none of the contestants could fall in love as quickly as Chock seemed to. He stated that most men had encountered anxiety with the commitment, “and it’s not that easy to say “I’m in love.”

Chock made it known he was the most earnest contestant, having urged Joan to leave with him on several occasions. He also asked Joan an intimate question: “Which side of the bed are you sleeping on?” These comments left Pascal and many of the contestants feeling uncomfortable and boxed out on a date that should have been collaborative.

Pascal told the media outlet, “Chock was all over her to the point where he was [like a] stalker.” Pascal, known for his close relationships with many of his competitors, was alarmed by Chock’s actions. The business owner may not be as kind and good-natured as he presents.

Chock Is Used To Being In Charge

Chock Is A Businessman

Chock has always been business-oriented. According to Chock’s LinkedIn, he earned his Labor Relations and General Business Administration degree from Kansas State University. From 2004 to 2020, he owned CIG Insurance. He is now the president of Insurance Services Group, LLC. Chock is the founder of the full-service group, implying a drive for success.

It's possible the business mindset has seeped into his romantic success. The 60-year-old bachelor has proven especially relentless in his approach to dating. He’s been known to:

  • Pull Joan away from other contenders
  • Ask that he and Joan leave together
  • Physically hover over Joan

Chock may have grown accustomed to maintaining control in a work setting. As a man primarily focused on his success and company, he may come across as overbearing and aggressive. The other men have described Chock as “stealing” Joan from them. She may want a more gentle and self-assured partner.

Chock May Have Issues From Past Relationships That Make Him Possessive

Chock has been very vocal about the grief after the tragic loss of his late fiancée, Katherine Elizabeth White Goree. He and Joan bonded over the struggle of moving on from a partner’s death and finding the courage to love again. However, his past relationship, in which he was engaged to Katherine for nine years before her passing, has raised some questions.

Chock seems to be controlling of his and Joan’s romantic destiny.

It's possible either party was not willing to commit fully to the marriage. This could have led to his current possessive tendencies. Chock seems to be controlling of his and Joan’s romantic destiny. Additionally, his divorce from ex-wife Heather Chapple could indicate some other turmoil.

Chock and Heather were together for 12 years before their divorce. The exes share two children, which they co-parent together. The loss of this partnership and full access to his children may play a part in his dating life. Joan may want to take the romance process slow before jumping into a major commitment.

The Golden Bachelorette’s Chock seems to have wooed Joan. As she decides between him and Guy, she may want to reflect on their behavior. Chock has been outwardly controlling of her time and possessive of the star. Hopefully, Chock is more accommodating than he seems on the show.
