This article contains possible The Golden Bachelorette SPOILERS.
Joan Vassos has a lot going for her, and doesn't necessarily need a man, so The Golden Bachelorette star should think twice before offering her "golden rose" to Chock Chapple or another suitor. Maybe none of these men are good enough. She's been trying to find the "diamond mind" (as Billie Elish sings in Ocean Eyes) in the bunch, but it's possible that such a man is not in her group of suitors. All may be cut from the same cloth. While she's trying to believe in Chock right now, Joan could be blind to his faults, and heading for a potential disaster.
Joan's already lived some life. In fact, she's loved and lost. Romance may be fun, but at the age of 61, Joan may not need to start over. She had a long and happy marriage. Sadly, in 2021, she lost John Vassos to pancreatic cancer. That was surely traumatic, and now, to make it all worse, information about John's legal issues before his death have come to light, possibly triggering her. In 2020, a Department of Justice press release surfaced which alleged that John entered guilty pleas on a trio of fraud charges, as per Msn.
8Chock Chapple May Be Clout Chasing
Does She Really Know Him Well Enough To Marry Him?
According to Reality Steve, Joan will offer her golden rose i.e. final rose to Chock, who's a good catch in some ways. The issue is that Gerry Turner seemed like a great person on The Golden Bachelor, but ultimately wouldn't even move away from Indiana to be with his "true love," Theresa Nist. They divorced within months of marrying. So, the "perfect man" thing can be very deceptive. Some men are definitely impressive on the surface - attractive, educated, and polite. However, having those traits doesn't guarantee that a person will be a good partner, or even a good person.
Gerry went on to rub his post-split happiness in Theresa's face. He wore an "Indiana... It's Not So Bad" t-shirt. He posed with women online. He tried to gain sympathy. This is the shadow side of franchise suitors. Once their relationships have ended, they can turn on their exes, making sure that the world knows they're happier than ever without the women they left behind.
There's no reason why Chock, who seems to love the attention he gets online, couldn't end up doing the same thing. That's why women who appear on these shows should proceed with caution. It's all too easy to make mistakes.
Is the reward really worth the risk? That's for her to decide, and if Reality Steve's correct, she did make that decision. However, that doesn't mean that the two are going to spend the rest of their lives together. Off-screen life is very different - it's real, rather than being theater. For this reason, Joan may someday regret choosing a suitor at the end of her The Golden Bachelorette season. She may wish she'd chosen Mark Anderson instead of Chock, or picked no one at all.
7Joan May Find That She Regrets Her Choice
She Could Choose The Wrong Man
As per Bachelor Nation at YouTube, Joan wasn't feeling as
"confident"
after her hometown dates. Some doubts were creeping in, and she was open about that. After she chooses a final suitor, she may find that she still has doubts. She spent a long time with a husband - starting over with a new man might not be as enjoyable as she expects it to be. She'll have to get used to living with someone, and may realize that she actually prefers living alone, so she can enjoy her hobbies. On her own, she can lean into what matters to her.
With someone else, she will inevitably need to adjust her lifestyle to suit his.
Some people can make this type of change and others can't, or decide not to. Romance later in life is different, especially when a beloved spouse has passed away. There's a sense that the years which remain should be optimized to do things that are truly important, and to be with those who really matter. If Joan really gives her heart to someone, it could work, but the truth is that second marriages have a higher risk of failure than first marriages. So, the odds are actually against Joan and whomever she picks.
6Joan May Find That Fans Turn On Her
Backlash May Make Her Wish She'd Done Things Differently
Fans turned on Gerry after The Golden Bachelor, blaming him for a marriage gone awry. Rightly or wrongly, they felt that he was the one who let his partner down. That wasn't completely fair as Theresa wouldn't move for Gerry either. Neither would move, but the man got the blame. If something goes wrong in Theresa's post-show love life, with Chock or whomever she picks, she may find that she is painted as the villain. Reality TV fans can be fickle. If something happens that they don't like, they can turn a fan favorite into someone who's universally reviled.
So, Joan may experience the downside of fame after handing out her golden rose. She's a sensitive person who read out a heartfelt poem during the talent portion of The Golden Bachelor. If fans turn on her, it could really hurt her. Joan might retreat from the spotlight, and her relationship might end up being unhappy because it's linked with the limelight. Private life might be something that she really misses.
5Joan Might Go Through A Divorce
Theresa Nist Did On The Golden Bachelor
A "later in life" divorce might be painful, especially if it's public. That's why Joan shouldn't give her golden rose to anyone. It's just not worth the risk. Theresa trusted Gerry and it ended in tears. Both seem okay now, but the love connection shown onscreen clearly wasn't real, or they wouldn't have broken up so fast. It was shocking how quickly they divorced - they may have gotten carried away, trying too hard to please producers and viewers, rather than listening to their own hearts. Reality TV is a spectacle and Gerry and Theresa provided some dramatic and romantic moments. However, something important was missing. That missing ingredient was true love.
4Chock Chapple Might Not Want To Get Married
He Had A Nine-Year Engagement

Chock is playing up his Romeo image online, but the truth is that he was engaged to his late fiancée Kathy White-Goree for nine years. It's tragic that she passed away, but at the same time, it's unusual for an engagement to drag out for so long. So, Chock may actually be more comfortable being engaged than married. If Joan wants a wedding, this may create some tension that leads to regrets down the line. If they marry, Chock may feel like he has to tie the knot. Hopefully, if they marry, it's something that both of them want equally.
3Joan May Find That Chock's Too Nitpicky
He's A Detail-Oriented Virgo Man

Joan recently shared some tips on dating later in life, but maybe she doesn't really have it all figured out. If she gives her final rose to Chock, who is a Virgo man, she may encounter the pitfalls of having a relationship with that Sun Sign. While she's a Capricorn, and they tend to get along with Virgos, men born under this sign are dyed-in-the-wool perfectionists.
They want things a certain way and no flaw will escape their attention.
In fact, Virgos are nitpicky people. They're good at taking people apart, but not so great at putting them back together again. A Virgo's criticism is their way of "helping" - they want to make the person they are "correcting" better. They want them to fix their flaws. However, most people eventually tire of having their imperfections pointed out by people born under the sign of Virgo. It can seem very unromantic at times - like love is conditional. Hopefully, Chock won't be too hard on Joan.
2Joan Is A Pessimistic Capricorn
She May Feel Unloved If Chock Is Too Critical
Capricorn women want to be perfect. They work hard to make everything they do perfect. Capricorns will do whatever it takes to produce quality - that is their way. That attitude will extend to how they present themselves in public. Every detail will be tended to. However, that drive to be perfect means that Joan will likely be hurt when Chock finds fault with her, since she's making a Herculean effort already. What makes these two so similar as Earth signs may also cause friction. Capricorns are pessimistic by nature and can get depressed if they don't feel valued. They will take it to heart.
1Joan May Miss Her Late Husband Too Much
Is It Too Late To Try Again?
The Golden Bachelorette star Joan has so much to offer, but then again, she's still mourning the husband that she lost. While time has passed, it really hasn't been that long since her husband died. Every time there's trouble in her new relationship, Joan will probably look back, comparing it to what she used to have. The comparisons might not always be favorable. Grief can takes years to process - sometimes, that sense of loss never goes away. Joan's love for her ex may be the reason why she doesn't manage to move on, and it's the reason why she should carefully consider the option of keeping her golden rose, rather than handing it to a man who might disappoint her.
The Golden Bachelorette airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. EDT on ABC.
