The Golden Bachelor's Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist ended their short-lived marriage in April, but is there any chance they'll ever get back together? It may be hard to remember now, in the shadow of their very public divorce, but Gerry and Theresa were some of the most famous couples on reality television. It's not often that an older couple becomes the country's most-watched love story, but Gerry and Theresa were a very entertaining couple. It was the first dating show to center around older people, and it found a massive audience.

When Gerry and Theresa rode off into the sunset together after The Golden Bachelor season 1, hopes were high that the couple would live happily ever after, but hopes were dashed quickly. Not only did the marriage only last three months, but the newlyweds never even lived in the same state, carrying on in a long-distance semblance of marriage. Gerry liked Theresa from the moment she stepped out of the limousine during the first night of The Golden Bachelor season 1. Gerry, a 73-year-old retired restaurateur, and Theresa, a 70-year-old day trader, quickly learned that they had something big in common since they were both widowers, so they shared a special bond. Gerry was married to Toni Turner for 43 years until she passed away in 2017, while Theresa was married to William Nist for 42 years until he died in 2014.

With two such successful marriages under their belt, Gerry and Theresa seemed destined to be together for the rest of their lives. Alas, they couldn't make it work as they couldn't decide on a place to live. While Gerry lived in Indiana, Theresa resided in New Jersey, and neither felt strongly enough to want to move. Though many fans were angry at Gerry and Theresa for not giving the marriage more than three months, there's something to be said about not dragging things out and giving people false hope.

They Don't Speak Regularly

In a recent interview with The New York Post, Theresa addressed her time on The Golden Bachelor. Theresa talked about healing and being grateful for the once-in-a-lifetime experience, despite the divorce. She insists that she has no hard feelings towards Gerry, and reveals that she spoke to him recently. “We don’t speak regularly," Theresa said. "I would say I wish him all the best, and I can see that he has so many friends, and I’m so happy for him that he does.”

The recent premiere of The Golden Bachelorette, ended with upcoming scenes from throughout the season, which will include a visit from Gerry. He presumably shows up to help Joan choose the right man, but he instead proceeds to tell her to consider the fact that none of these men are right for her. Gerry's terrible advice suggests he's still bitter about everything that happened after The Golden Bachelor.

Will Gerry & Theresa Get Back Together?

It's Unlikely

Though Gerry and Theresa didn't end things on bad terms, The Golden Bachelor season 1 couple are unlikely to get back together any time soon. They got carried away with all the excitement and rushed into the marriage before they knew each other well enough to make such a big commitment. Thankfully, Gerry and Theresa had a prenup agreement, so they both walked away from the marriage financially unscathed.

As of this writing, both of them are still single, at least publicly. If ABC ever decides to make Golden Bachelor In Paradise, both Gerry and Theresa would make excellent contestants, along with other cast members from The Golden Bachelor and The Golden Bachelorette.
