72-year-old Gerry was also a widower before joining the cast of The Golden Bachelor season 1, losing his wife, Toni Turner, in 2017, after 43 years of marriage. Gerry and Theresa hit it off immediately, and ended the season by getting married. Though hopes were high for the septuagenarian newlyweds, the Golden marriage lasted only three months. Though the divorce was likely devastating for Theresa, it shouldn't have been a surprise, as there were many red flags along the way.
When Gerry was announced as The Golden Bachelor, he was identified as a retired restaurateur who once owned a popular Indiana diner. Over time, it became clear that Gerry sold his small diner decades ago and had worked as a maintenance person off-and-on since then. Since settling her divorce from Gerry, Theresa has kept her head down, focusing on family and her work. She doesn't seem to have waded back into the dating pool, and it's unclear when she'll ever be ready to date again. After all the lies, deceptions, and misrepresentations she endured on The Golden Bachelor season 1, it would be perfectly understandable that Theresa would have a difficult time ever trusting another man.
