The Golden Bachelor's Theresa Nist just opened up about her past as an actor in a shocking life update after divorcing Gerry Turner. Theresa is a fan-favorite within Bachelor Nation, despite going through a breakup. It was Gerry who saw his reputation tank. Even after all these months following The Golden Bachelor season 1 and the divorce announcement, Theresa is riding a wave of popularity that doesn't show any signs of diminishing. She regularly posts updates on social media to let her followers know how she and her family are doing.
The Golden Bachelor 's Theresa Nist marked Breast Cancer Awareness Month by sharing a commercial she starred in years ago.
Theresa's latest update came as quite a shock because the Golden Bachelor winner revealed she was an actor at one point in her life. In a post about Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Theresa admitted that in the 1990s, she was "dabbling in local commercials as a hobby." A casting director offered her a role if she was able to jump over hurdles. Before accepting, Theresa went outside and put two empty garbage cans on her lawn, got a tree branch to put across the bins and attempted to jump. It took her several attempts, but she eventually did it.
Theresa's daughter Jen Woolston, who was 7, gave her the motivation to accept the offer. She asked Jen, "Do I look like I can do this?" Her daughter replied, "Yes, mommy! You look good!" So she ended up taking the job. However, Theresa still wasn't sure if she was confident enough to jump over the hurdles, so she requested that the hurdles at the school where the commercial was being filmed be left out so she could practice that night. On the day of filming, "everyone held their breath waiting to see if I could actually jump over the hurdles."
When the commercial eventually aired, a lot of people asked Theresa if the video was "digitally enhanced" to make it seem like she was jumping over the hurdles. Theresa included a video of the commercial in her Instagram post, which had the narrator saying people have busy lives, with phrases like "grocery shopping," "business lunch" and "PTA meeting" on the hurdles, and Theresa jumping over them. The narrator admitted it's hard to keep track of one's health, even when there's a high risk of breast cancer.
With October being Breast Cancer Awareness month I couldn’t help but try to find this video which I was asked to do about 30 years ago. It brings back so many memories for me, especially 90s hairdos and me being a young mom dabbling in local commercials as a hobby. I got a call one day asking if I could jump over very, very low hurdles” I asked how high and for what purpose? 3 1/2 feet. Breast Cancer Awareness. Okay, wonderful, but that was a regulation sized hurdle and I’d never jumped over a hurdle before. They had sent a different woman the week before but when she got there she couldn’t do it. And this casting director was about to lose the account if she couldn’t produce a hurdler in my age range. So, I told her I would call her back. I went outside, put two empty garbage cans on my front lawn, found a tree limb, put it across them and proceeded to try to jump over this ‘hurdle’. Jen was about seven years old at the time. I tried and tried and tried until I finally succeeded. But did I look like I could really do it? I asked Jenny “Do I look like I can do this?” And in her sweet little voice she exclaimed “Yes, mommy! You look good!” So, I called them back and told them I could do it. However, to be sure, I also called the athletic Director at the school where the commercial was being produced and asked him to leave the hurdles out that night. I went there and practiced it until I got it right. I showed up the day of the shoot and everyone held their breath waiting to see if I could actually jump over the hurdles. I did and everyone applauded and shouted in relief “We have a hurdler!” It aired so many times, which was so wonderful for breast cancer awareness, but, when my son Tommy and I watched it later (they did it in black and white to drive the point home) we couldn’t believe that it was really me on the screen hurdling. In fact, everyone I knew asked me if it was somehow digitally enhanced to just make it look like I was hurdling. But, yes, it really was me doing it and I’m so happy that I was able to do it for such a good cause.
What The Golden Bachelor Star Theresa Nist’s Past Job Means
Theresa Receives Praise For Her Commercial
Theresa's fans love hearing about her life, both now and in her past. For example, she recently appeared at a CNBC event and revealed that she used to work at the cable network as an intern. While Theresa wasn't a full-time actor or anything like that, she was probably "dabbling" in local commercials to earn some extra money. As she mentioned in her Instagram caption, she was a young mother at the time, with Jen being about 7 years old, so anything that helped to provide her with clothes and food for her child would have been very helpful.
If Gerry had posted a throwback like this, he likely would have been heavily criticized, even though there would have been nothing to criticize regarding this commercial. It's just that the Golden Bachelor lead has been unable to salvage his damaged reputation. The comments sections of most of his Instagram posts are filled with negative messages. Theresa, meanwhile, has no issue posting an update like this because she'll receive nothing but praise, which she did.

Theresa Should Keep Sharing Her Throwback Commercials
The Golden Bachelor winner's revelation that she dabbled in local commercials in the 1990s was fascinating to discover.
