When NFL teams see today's Buffalo Bills on their schedule, they're probably not thinking "Fun!"
We're talking about a team that has Josh Allen at quarterback, a solid defense, and good coaching. The offensive line has improved over the years. In 2024, they reset their wide receiver room and still managed to be one of the game's most dangerous offenses. They're a darn good football team and they're expected to go a long way in 2025.
But even in June, one of the NFL's top quarterbacks thinks about the Bills every day: Two-time league MVP, Lamar Jackson.
The Baltimore Ravens quarterback spoke to the media for the first time since losing to the Bills in January* and it was clear he hasn't gotten over his loss to Buffalo, claiming he's coming back for revenge.
"We’re going to bounce back, and when we come back, I feel like we are going to have vengeance on our minds," Jackson told reporters when asked about what led to the loss to the Bills.
*Note: How the heck does a quarterback of Jackson's caliber doesn't speak to the media in such a long time is beyond me. I feel for my peers who cover the Ravens. They have it tough, man!
Jackson admitted he doesn't get over any loss, not even those from his youth football days. And though he said the loss is the same as others, aiming for vengeance indicates the Bills are at the forefront of his mind.
Fortunately (or unfortunately) for him, he gets a chance to get some in Week 1 when the Bills and Ravens square off for the year's first Sunday Night Football showdown. He already knows what must go differently if they intend to beat the Bills.
“Protecting the ball," Jackson said with no hesitation. "I feel like when we protected the ball, we had no problems moving the ball down the field. [On] first [and] second down, we were getting positive yards out of every play, it was just the turnovers [that hurt us]. [If there were] no turnovers, I feel like we win [the game].”
Naturally, the Bills are preparing themselves. The NFL world awaits a clash of titans that could say a lot about the state of the AFC right away. Lamar awaits too. He wants vengeance. Will he get it?
