The Bold and the Beautiful Recap, April 22: Tearful Steffy tells stunned Liam he is dying

What happened on The Bold and the Beautiful

Steffy was surprised to hear that Liam didn't even know about his fatal brain tumor yet. Finn explained that Grace didn't get the test results until after Liam bolted from the hospital.

"He has a mass on his brain?" Steffy asked rhetorically in disbelief. Finn answered her anyway and once again repeated, "Surgery is not an option." Steffy announced that she refused to accept that Liam was dying. She stressed what a good dad Liam was.

"Liam would do anything for his daughters. He left the hospital just to take Kelly to her dance," Steffy cried. Liam was just having a great time in her living room with Kelly. There was no way he could be dying. For some reason, Finn repeated what he had told Steffy multiple times since Friday. "Dr. Buckingham and the neuro team confirmed that there's a mass on Liam's brain," he said.

Steffy continued to cry as she had every time Finn had told her this. But at least she had a good question, asking why it wasn't caught on the first scan. Finn explained that the bleeding and information masked the mass. "There's a lot that we don't know. That's why he needs to get back to the hospital," Finn insisted.

Finn explained that the mass is what caused Liam's fall and not the other way around. Steffy kept repeating that the doctors said Liam was getting better, but Finn had to remind her that he was recovering from the brain bleed, not the mass.

In Kelly's room, Liam continued to feel dizzy and had trouble reading the words in Kelly's book. He faked it anyway, but got some of the words wrong. He finally asked Kelly to read the book to him, but Kelly wanted to know what was wrong. Liam just claimed his eyes were tired, so he chose to tell Kelly a story instead.

Liam told his daughter a story of a magical girl named Kelly who exuded kindness. As Kelly listened to the story in his arms, he promised her that he wasn't going anywhere. "You make everything fun. That's your magic, Daddy," she said.

As Liam left Kelly's room, Steffy insisted to Finn that she had to be the one to tell Liam the truth about his condition. When Liam walked back into the living room, Finn went to check on Kelly so Steffy could talk to Liam alone. Liam wasn't feeling well, so he asked to sit.

After weeping for several minutes, Steffy finally told a stunned Liam that he had an inoperable brain tumor.

Eric sat at his desk, excited about the upcoming fashion show. Brooke walked in and told Eric he had been missed. Eric brought up Ridge, but Brooke changed the subject and gushed over the gowns that would be in the show. Eric didn't care and changed the subject right back to Ridge.

Brooke admitted that she missed him, but was just happy to see the Forresters back where they belonged. "It just feels so right. Like everything's falling into place," she said.

Brooke then got serious. "I love Ridge. I miss him. You would think seeing him every day at the office would make me happy, but really, it just hurts cause I think about all the times that we had together and things we had planned for the future."

Eric acknowledged that Ridge was Brooke's person, so it was hard to let him go. Brooke just wanted Ridge to see that they belonged together. Brooke reminisced on the time she and Ridge spent in Portofino, as it was such a magical time for the two of them.

Eric brought up a photo from the trip on his laptop just as Ridge arrived. He assumed Brooke was there to get a peek at the showstopper, but Ridge admitted it was under lock and key. "You're not going to see it before anyone else sees it," he said. Eric reiterated that the showstopper would be a big surprise.

Brooke tried to make herself scarce, but Eric reminded her that they weren't finished with their conversation and he wanted to talk to her more later. After Brooke left, Ridge asked Eric what his chat with Brooke was really about. Eric confessed he was taking a little trip down memory lane with Brooke, remembering their time in Portofino in a legendary gown that Eric designed.

Eric didn't understand why Ridge and Brooke weren't together. "You abruptly left her for Taylor just because she became the CEO of a temporary situation here. I was angry too, but you overreacted," Eric accused. While Eric consulted with an assistant, Ridge opened the laptop and stared at Brooke in that gorgeous gown.
