The Bachelor season 29 contestant Alexe Godin mysteriously disappeared from Grant Ellis' group date in Madrid, Spain, and she shared the shocking reason why. During The Bachelor season 29 episode 4, Grant and his ten remaining women traveled to Madrid, where Alexe and seven other women--Carolina Sofia, Juliana Pasquarosa, Litia Garr, Natalie Phillips, Parisa Shifteh, Rose Sombke, and Zoe McGrady--rode a mechanical bull to see who could stay on it the longest. Alexe came up with a strategy of lying down on the bull while holding its horns, but she came in second in the contest to Zoe.
Alexe revealed that she had a concussion from riding the mechanical bull, which was why she disappeared from the nighttime portion of the group date with Grant.
In an Instagram post, Alexe revealed that she had a concussion from riding the mechanical bull, which was why she disappeared from the nighttime portion of the group date with Grant. Alexe was shown walking into the afterparty in a yellow dress, and participating in Grant's toast, but then she wasn't seen again for the rest of the group date. Alexe posted a video of herself holding her head as she looked at a mechanical bull, with the caption, "flashbacks of when I got concussed on The Bachelor."

What Alexe Godin's Concussion Means For Her Relationship With Grant Ellis On The Bachelor
Alexe Missed Out On Talking To Grant
Because of her concussion, Alexe missed out on talking to Grant at the afterparty. However, it might have been a blessing in disguise for her because the end of the group date was filled with tension and stress after Juliana confronted Carolina about the latter contestant's concerns about getting engaged so fast on the show. When Grant entered the room, Carolina was crying, so he pulled her aside before giving out the group date rose.
When Grant returned to the women after his conversation with Carolina, he informed them that he wasn't going to be handing out the group date rose because he now had some thinking to do, so he decided not to. It was better for Alexe that she wasn't there for the drama, especially because she's become emotional about it in the past on the show. However, it was sad that she was injured during the date for her own sake.

Although she missed out on the second half of the group date in Madrid, Alexe does seem to have a strong connection with Grant. On premiere night, he gave her his first impression rose, which meant that she automatically received the first one-on-one date too, which went very well. Alexe brought a live llama named Linda to the Bachelor Mansion on premiere night, which she called her "no-drama llama." Unfortunately, the women haven't been living up to the llama's motto as the season has been complete chaos so far.
Our Take On Alexe Godin's Concussion During The Bachelor Season 29
The Dates Aren't Conducive To Falling In Love

Alexe's concussion is yet another example of how The Bachelor puts the contestants into situations that are too physically demanding. During The Bachelor season 27, Genevie Mayo hurt her shoulder during a tackle football game and wound up in a sling, while The Bachelor season 28's Rachel Nance ended up in the hospital during the daytime portion of her Fantasy Suite date after nearly breaking her jaw after they jumped off of a ledge into water.
These types of dates aren't conducive to falling in love, and they put the contestants at unnecessary risk. While riding a mechanical bull isn't the most dangerous thing a person can do, making it into a contest forced the women to have to get creative with how they did it. This led to Alexe putting herself in a precarious situation that resulted in a head injury. Not only did she get hurt, but she also lost valuable time with Grant. Thankfully, Alexe made a full recovery, but The Bachelor producers must do more to protect the contestants from harm.
