Grant is originally from Newark, New Jersey, but he currently lives in Houston, Texas. In his ABC bio, Grant was described as a mama's boy. During his one-on-one date with Jenn, (shared via the Bachelorette Instagram page), Grant opened up about his relationship with his father, who's struggled with addiction for the past 30 years. He explained that his father was everything to him as he was growing up, but he didn't know that he was drinking and lying to him.

Before Grant left to film The Bachelorette, his father was fired from his job, but Grant told him that he didn't care. However, Grant said that he was the proudest he'd ever been of his father when he called him and told him that he was checking into rehab. Grant's dad was sober for two months, and they were rebuilding their relationship.

In his Bachelorette season 21 premiere package, (shared in part via the Bachelorette Instagram page), Grant shared that he's an active day trader. He was also a professional basketball player, and he was the first Division I signee at his high school. He graduated from Albertus Magnus College, and then went overseas to play basketball as a professional athlete, but his career ended due to an injury. After that, Grant got into the finance field, and, as he said, "it's been off to the races from there."

In his Bachelorette premiere night package, Grant shared that he's been playing basketball since he was about eight years old, and he loves it. According to his ABC bio, Grant also loves poetry and reading. He also enjoys watching the Lakers play, going bowling, and singing at karaoke. He's also an avid salsa dancer. Grant has a plan to visit every country during his lifetime. He also wishes that he could live in the year 3000 so that he could find out what technology will be like in the far future.
