Joey Graziadei and Kelsey Anderson got engaged at the end of The Bachelor season 28, but there is some speculation about the health of their relationship. It can't be easy to deal with people judging your relationship, but that's what 28-year-old Joey and 25-year-old Kelsey signed up for when they decided to appear on an unscripted dating show. Joey wasn't a stranger to reality TV, as he had been a contestant on The Bachelorette season 21.
When the tennis pro couldn't win Charity Lawson's heart, he was cast as The Bachelor where he met Kelsey. The junior project manager from Louisiana was one of the 32 women who competed for Joey's roses, which was a record number of contestants for any Bachelor franchise show. After she beat out all the competition, Kelsey won Joey's heart, his final rose, and a diamond engagement ring.
After The Bachelor season 28 finale aired, Joey and Kelsey started spending every moment together and barely left each other's sides. In addition to traveling, the engaged couple have made public appearances, and even appeared on other reality TV shows. They've left behind their old lives to become public figures with massive social media followings and have continued to enjoy relative popularity with Bachelor Nation fans. Despite all the good, things haven't always been perfect, and there's some speculation that their relationship isn't in the best place.
8Joey & Kelsey Haven't Set A Wedding Date
There's No Urgency
The Bachelor season 28 finished filming in November 2023, which is when Joey got down on one knee and asked Kelsey to marry him. More than ten months have passed since Joey put a ring on it, but a wedding date still hasn't been set. Kelsey and Joey posted an Instagram sponsorship in August with the convenience store chain Wawa, in which a fan asked the couple about their wedding date. When Joey looked at Kelsey for an answer, she replied, "definitely within the next two years."
Kelsey went on to say they will settle on a date and location for their Bachelor wedding "within the next six months." In other words, Joey and Kelsey have set a date to set a date. Another six months means they won't even announce a wedding date until 2025. The longer they wait, the less likely they are to get married. Though they haven't set a wedding date, Joey and Kelsey shared their engagement film shoot.
7Joey And Kelsey Live With Roommates
Awkward
One of many reasons Joey and Kelsey are nowhere near ready to get married is their awkward living situation. Between filming The Bachelorette season 20 and The Bachelor season 28, Joey had been living with his sister. It made more sense than getting a short-term rental between stints of production. After Joey and Kelsey got engaged, they wanted to live together right away, so Kelsey invited Joey to move in with her.
Before appearing on the show, Kelsey shared a house in New Orleans, Louisiana, with multiple female roommates, so Joey was the only man in the house. The awkward living situation worked out well for Joey and Kelsey because they were traveling a lot and were rarely home. These days, the couple live in Los Angeles while Joey films Dancing With The Stars.
6Rumors Kelsey Is Jealous Of Joey For Being On Dancing WIth The Stars
She's Almost Too Secure In Her Relationship
Since leaving The Bachelor season 28, Joey and Kelsey have focused on growing their careers as influencers and public figures. Currently, Joey's a contestant on Dancing With The Stars, and some have speculated Kelsey is fighting her jealousy. In response to the suggestion, Kelsey recently posted an Instagram in which she insists that she's not jealous of Joey dancing so passionately with another woman.
In the clip, The Bachelor season 28 star explains dancing involves touching, so she's perfectly fine with letting Joey dance with another woman. Kelsey does sound very confident, and though there's always the chance she's overcompensating to cover her true feelings, it's clear she is secure enough in the relationship. There is, however, such a thing as being too secure in a relationship, which is where Kelsey may be. The post's caption reads, "Let’s keep it cute ladies and gents."
5Joey & Kelsey Struggled Financially
His FICO Score Took A Hit
Joey appeared on the Trading Secrets podcast in June, where he revealed he had missed some credit card payments while filming The Bachelor. Joey told the podcast audience that he had used the credit card to make an online purchase for $100 and simply forgot to pay it off. “I was at 730, and I went on the show and I had a payment from a credit card that I didn’t answer for two and a half months,” Joey said. “I dropped, like, 80 points.”
Joey said he was shocked to come home after filming The Bachelor season 28, to find that his credit score had tanked. “ I was like, ‘I can’t even get into an apartment building. ’ Jesus .”
On the same podcast, Kelsey said she felt like she had been playing catch-up financially since coming back from the show. Kelsey quit her job as a project manager but planned to go back to work eventually. For a while, she relied on Joey to support her financially. “Joey’s my security blanket,” she said. Thankfully, their finances have improved considerably since then, as Joey and Kelsey have gone on to build large social media followings.
4Kelsey May Want More Children Than Joey
Different Views On Family Planning
An awkward conversation came up during an interview with TV Insider. It started innocently enough, with Kelsey saying the best thing she learned about Joey since The Bachelor season 28 stopped filming was that he's a big sports fan. They both learned he likes the Green Bay Packers, while she's a Minnesota Vikings fan. At one point, Joey insisted that their children would be Green Bay fans.
Though Joey and Kelsey's banter about their future children was really sweet and cute, it was also illustrative.
The conversation revealed Joey and Kelsey don't seem to agree on the number of children they want. Kelsey said she wants as many children as possible, while Joey wants two or three at the most. Joey replied he was simply "too logical" to think the way Kelsey does about the matter, which seemed like a big issue that may cause problems for the couple.
3Kelsey Hangs Out With Joey's Exes
She Was Photographed With Charity & Daisy
In August, Bachelor ABC posted Instagram photos of several Bachelor Nation stars at the premiere of The Golden Bachelorette with Joan Vassos. In the photo, a dolled-up Kelsey is flanked by two of Joey's ex-girlfriends; 28-year-old Charity Lawson and 25-year-old Daisy Kent. Charity was The Bachelorette, who sent Joey home during her finale, and Daisy was Joey's runner-up on Joey's season of The Bachelor. Kelsey has been photographed with both women in the past, so it's clear that they're all friends.
Bachelor ABC's post has 173.9K likes and the caption reads, " heard tonight’s episode of #TheBachelorette is gonna be wicked. "
Joey's friends with some of his exes, too. Soon after getting engaged on The Bachelor season 28 finale, Joey and Kelsey went to Hawaii with Charity and Dotun Olubeko, along with another Bachelor Nation couple, Kaity Biggar and Zach Shallcross. Being friendly with exes can be a good thing, but it can also lead to unnecessary drama.
2Joey & Kelsey Try Too Hard
They're Possibly Overcompensation
The Golden Bachelor season 28 star posts a lot about her relationship, and the couple always look so happy as they travel together, and attend events.Social media posts are not a great gauge of relationship happiness, and it's impossible to know what's going on behind closed doors. Kelsey recently posted a TikTok of herself singing along to Sabrina Carpenter's song, "Coincidence."
The post has 68.2K likes, and her caption reads, " listening to this song when I'm fully in a healthy and loving relationship ."
Some would argue that being in a good relationship means you never have to tell everyone that you're in a good relationship. Though things could be going well for Kelsey and Joey, it's also possible Kelsey is overcompensating. Their failure to set a wedding date since leaving The Bachelor season 28 is a sign of things being less than perfect.
1Joey & Kelsey Are Already In Therapy
It's Not A Great Sign
In March, just a few short days after The Bachelor 28 season finale aired on ABC and Joey and Kelsey went public with their relationship, the couple told Business Insider they were already seeing a couples' counselor. They said they did it because they wanted to start counseling when things were good instead of waiting until there was a problem in the relationship. They explained that counseling had helped them get to know each other.
Joey and Kelsey said they appreciated the counseling because it helped them understand that they have different communication styles.
Starting couples counseling this early in a relationship could be a sign of trouble. Dating on a reality show makes it hard to get to know someone, so it's understandable to think counseling could be helpful. Being on The Bachelor is a curated experience in a highly produced and manufactured reality. It would be nearly impossible to learn who someone is until the cameras stop rolling. The counseling could help Joey and Kelsey learn to communicate properly with each other, but it's hard not to read it as a bad sign when it comes so early in the relationship.
