President Donald Trump has been to a few Alabama football games the past couple of years at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
First the 2019 LSU game. Then the 2024 Georgia game.
He highlighted Alabama’s win over the Bulldogs from this past season as Trump spoke Thursday night at Coleman Coliseum as part of a commencement address. He also talked about the Alabama football experience as a whole. In that, he shared a tradition Alabama fans know well.
“There’s something truly special about the players, coaches and the fans that pack the stands at Bryant-Denny Stadium and proudly sing ‘Dixieland Delight,’” Trump said. “We like that.”
Trump said Alabama has changed college football forever, mentioning the likes of Paul W. “Bear” Bryant, quarterback Joe Namath, the four Heisman Trophy winners and Nick Saban.
“This place is truly where legends are made,” Trump said.
The 45th and 47th president praised Saban a few times as well as Kalen DeBoer indirectly.
“(Saban’s) done such a fantastic job,” Trump said. “That’s true with Nick. What a great coach. Let’s bring him back. No. You have a good coach right now, though. You have a good coach right now.”
