The 2025 NFL Scouting Combine a Critical Step for the Chicago Bears

The 2025 NFL Scouting Combine is upon us. The Chicago Bears have a lot of work in the 2025 NFL Draft.

The 2025 NFL Scouting Combine is just about here, and the Bears will have a lot of homework to do at this combine. While they may not have a large pile of draft picks, they must maximize what they get out of these picks. It’s important the team hit big in this draft because it’s going to be an important stepping stone to the future for this team.

The 2025 NFL Scouting Combine and the Chicago Bears

Offensive Line is Number One

There are several needs that the Bears have but their biggest need is on the offensive line. Guard and tackle, along with center, take your pick, the Bears need help across the offensive line except in Darnell Wright’s spot.

The Bears should have some options on the offensive line when they make their selection at number ten in the first round. There are going to be a few prospects that the Bears can check out while they are at the combine. Some of them we have talked about but there are sure to be others that rise, virtually out of nowhere, and take the combine by storm.

One such player who has that potential is North Dakota State offensive tackle Grey Zabel. Zabel looked great at Senior Bowl practice. Look for Zabel to shoot up draft boards with a great scouting combine. We will surely be talking about him as the pre-draft period goes on. The Bears could and should take an interest in him.

Second Round Defensive Line Help

Second-round talent at defensive end and tackle are what the Bears need to be concentrating on as the combine arrives. The Bears have two-second picks they can use to try to beef up areas of the team that need it. The defensive line needs it, particularly at edge rusher. They could grab a guy there who is available and able to meet the needs that they have.

One player that they might be interested in, at edge rusher and in the second round is Ohio State end J.T. Tuimoloau. His stock may end up rising a bit during and after the combine. If he’s available when the Bears make one of their second-round picks in the 2025 draft (one at No. 39 and the other at No. 41) they should consider taking him. Tuimoloau has a ton of upside and could end up being a very good fit for the Bears. Keep in mind that defensive coordinator Dennis Allen tends to like larger defensive ends. Tuimoloau, who comes in at 269 pounds and stands at 6’5” could be a decent fit.

The Bears are heading into the offseason armed with a lot of salary cap space. This means they can spend a lot of free agents who might be available. The Bears need a lot of help. Free agency might be where they can find some of the help that they need. However, the draft is going to be where the team finds youth and players that are going to be with them for the long term.
