Texans Predicted to Be 'Aggressive Sellers' at NFL Trade Deadline

Despite a talented roster and playoff hopes, the Houston Texans are being identified as potential sellers ahead of the 2025 NFL trade deadline.

Bleacher Report’s Alex Kay recently named Houston as the No. 2 team most likely to make moves if the season veers off course, with concerns about the team’s financial outlook and roster sustainability.

Notably, the Texans were the only playoff team on his list, which also included the Cowboys, Dolphins, Giants, and Seahawks.

Houston’s situation is unique as they’re clearly in win-now mode, having added veterans to support a young core led by quarterback C.J. Stroud.

But after opening last season 6-2 and then ending 10-7, questions still remain about consistency, especially with offensive line injuries and depth concerns.

With just $11.6 million in cap space (fifth-lowest in the league) and inevitable extensions for stars like Stroud and Will Anderson Jr., the front office may face some tough decisions.

Kay lists high-priced veterans such as Dalton Schultz, Joe Mixon, Danielle Hunter, and Tytus Howard as potential trade candidates if the team underperforms.

If Houston gets off to a slow start, it shouldn't be a surprise if they flip the switch from contender to seller, offloading contracts in exchange for draft picks and cap flexibility moving forward. While still AFC South favorites, they must stay on their toes to keep pace.
