Steve Kerr excited with Golden State Warriors duo who had ‘never played together’ before the playoffs

Steve Kerr is enthralled by two Golden State Warriors players who he may have to utilize together, having rarely done so previously.

The Golden State Warriors are getting ready to play Game 2 against the Houston Rockets. After a thrilling Game 1, the Warriors feel they have the momentum on their side.

Stephen Curry had a strong performance with 31 points in Game 1. But it was the two-way play of Jimmy Butler, who scored 25 points, that earned them the win.

Draymond Green spoke candidly about how Butler’s two-way play and IQ impressed him. He also presented a window for Jonathan Kuminga to earn his way back into the team.

But there are two other stars that have caught Steve Kerr‘s eye. It appears that despite not playing together much, these players have some strong chemistry.

Steve Kerr loving chemistry between two bigs

Steve Kerr spoke to NBC Sports Bay Area about the different combinations he and the Warriors are going to use going forward.

One of the combinations he has been impressed with is that of Kevon Looney and Quinten Post. Despite the two bigs not playing together, they seem to complement each other’s games quite well.

“They’ve never played together, but the playoffs sometimes dictate maybe a minute or two here and there. We obviously did it to combat their two bigs.”

“We like it because Loon’s our best rebounder and Quinten’s one of our best shooters.

“We’re able to space the floor against them with those two big guys and present a little more size.  Actually, the most size we can.”

Golden State Warriors primed to win Game 2

Steve Kerr seems to have settled on a rotation that he thinks can help them win this series. Despite playing away from home, it’s hard not to dub the Warriors favorites.

The Warriors did struggle against the Rockets, and fans noticed their lax defense at points. But their veteran experience seemed to get them over the line.

And that is why many expect them, despite being the seventh seed through the play-in, to defeat the Rockets in this series.

Game 2 is at the Toyota Center, but what we saw from the Rockets in Game 1 shows that they don’t have the experience yet to capitalize on home court advantage.
