The trade might not morph into becoming a reality.

But the hints have done so.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have this offseason moved aggressively in pursuit of some big names available through trade or free agency.

They started with a trade for wide receiver DK Metcalf earlier in the spring. Just a few weeks ago the Steelers ended the worst kept secret in football after officially signing quarterback Aaron Rodgers for one more go at it before retirement.

How about one more blockbuster?

During a recent appearance on 93.7 The Fan in Pittsburgh, Steelers insider Mark Kaboly contemplated the idea of the team once again acting on a resolution, this time in trading for Miami Dolphins cornerback Jalen Ramsey.

"I bet you they're listening. I mean, the salary is not bad, it's a one-year deal really right? I think he has no guarantees past this year... Now people say where do you want to put him? I don't care."

Pittsburgh's defensive backfield includes Darius Slay and Joey Porter Jr.

So sure, Ramsey would help.

And the Steelers might recognize that, given new info.

During an appearance on ESPN Radio's "Unsportsmanlike,'' Adam Schefter revealed that the Steelers have indeed called the Dolphins to express their interest doing a deal.

"I think Pittsburgh checked in. I'm not so sure Pittsburgh's gonna be the destination. In fact, if I had to guess, I would say Pittsburgh would not be the likely destination," he said. "I think when you're trying to figure out a home for Jalen Ramsey ... It would have to work financially for both sides."

Schefter masters the obvious on that last point. But the Steelers placed a call on Ramsey? That's a start. That's news.
