Steelers' Russell Wilson Discusses Challenge Of Stopping Browns' Myles Garrett

The Pittsburgh Steelers ' last game against the Cleveland Browns didn't go as hoped. Russell Wilson struggled to stay upright, as Browns star pass rusher Myles Garrett sacked him three times and forced a fumble. Wilson was sacked a total of four times in the Steelers' 24-19 loss to the Browns, a performance that left Pittsburgh's offense scrambling. As the Steelers look to bounce back at home, the focus shifts to their offensive line and the challenge of containing Garrett.

Steelers' Russell Wilson Discusses Challenge Of Stopping Browns' Myles Garrett

Dan Moore Jr. will be front and center in this crucial matchup. In their previous encounter, Moore struggled to slow down Garrett, who wreaked havoc on Wilson. The Browns' defensive star proved to be too much for the Steelers' left tackle, and Moore will need to show significant improvement if Pittsburgh hopes to protect Wilson and establish any rhythm on offense. Garrett’s relentless pursuit is a major factor that Moore will need to neutralize this time around.

Wilson spoke to Chris Adamski on Thursday about the challenge of Moore slowing down Garrett. Wilson acknowledged how dominant Garrett is, noting that Moore will have to stay focused and execute his technique perfectly. With the Steelers looking for redemption, Wilson emphasized the importance of giving Moore the support and confidence he needs to stand up to Garrett and help Pittsburgh not get swept by the Browns.

"He had a great game obviously, I think that he is one of the most talented guys in the National Football League," Wilson said. "He is gonna make his plays and the key for us is limiting them and how many plays he makes, but he is obviously a tremendous talent."

Wilson understands that completely stopping Garrett is unlikely, but he was pleased with how Moore and the offensive line responded in the second half to slow down Garrett and the Browns' pass rush.

Wilson is confident that Moore can build on that improved performance and do even better in their next matchup.

"I think Dan has had a really good year," Wilson said. "You know guys making some plays like that and obviously, he is one of the best to do it. We wanna be able to slow him down. I think that we responded really well. I think that we were able to just, it wasn’t something new technique or anything like that. We were able to just lock down and do what we do really well. I think Dan did a really good job of that in the second half."

Entering the 2024 season, Moore faced heavy criticism, with many Steelers fans hoping he wouldn’t retain a starting role. Despite the constant scrutiny over his position, Moore has held onto his spot in the lineup.

Steelers' Dan Moore Jr. Seeking Revenge On Browns' Myles Garrett

Moore is coming off a solid performance against the Cincinnati Bengals and now faces another chance to go head-to-head with Garrett. It’s clear that the Steelers’ film room has dissected every instance where Garrett overwhelmed Moore, and the tackle will be highly motivated to show he can rise to the challenge. His goal is to prove he can contain the Browns' star pass rusher and keep Wilson well protected.

Steeler Nation is eagerly watching to see if Moore can improve his performance against Garrett this time around. With the pressure on, all eyes will be on Moore to see if he can step up and prove he’s ready for the challenge on Sunday.
