Mike Tomlin and John Harbaugh have been the faces of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens for two decades.
And while both have seen similar success, Mike Tomlin's coaching resume is a little better than Harbaugh's when accounting for the regular season.
But if the best coach in the history of college football returns to the AFC North, the title for best in the division could change...
Could Nick Saban return to the Browns?
For those unaware, former Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Greg McElroy set the college football world on fire on Monday when he mentioned that those close to Nick Saban said he may return to coaching:
“This is a little bit out of left field, but the question was asked of me … a very much in the know person that I have a lot of respect for and have spent a lot of time around and just really, really admire,” McElroy said on his radio show, McElroy and Cube in the Morning. “They seem to think Nick Saban’s not done coaching. I had a similar reaction. He’s pretty adamant that he thinks Nick Saban will be coaching again. … Look, if it wasn’t someone notable, I’d never say a word.”
So with the SEC meetings go on, of course the subject was going to be broached, and Lane Kiffin, who also coached in the NFL and also under Nick Saban at Alabama, had a similar sentiment with a little more specificity...
"I kinda thought it might be the NFL (for Saban)," said Kiffin on Monday during an appearance on the SEC Network. "Because he's so sharp still."
Nick Saban was once the defensive coordinator of the Cleveland Browns, where he coached under Bill Belichick. The team has one of the better coaches in the sport, but with one of the worst rosters in the league and another losing season likely on the horizon, owner Jimmy Haslem may not be able to resist his impulsive tendencies and clean house.
That could prompt the return of Saban, especially in a class where the draft will be rich with talent in 2026 at the quarterback position, many of whom Saban recruited or played against.
It's the kind of thing you don't see happen every day, but one that isn't that far fetched and could make the AFC North that much better.
