Steelers' Mike Tomlin Allowed Dan Kreider To Take Bart Scott's Regrettable Bait In 2007: 'Send Me That Neck Roll Because I Broke It'

It's no secret that the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Baltimore Ravens hate each other with a burning passion. There are all kinds of stories about the hate, as well as respect that these two organizations have for one another. With certain players, however, there was no respect. There was just bloodlust from guys from both teams. Games between the two always mean more than any other game that most of these players have ever been in before.

Steelers' Mike Tomlin Allowed Dan Kreider To Take Bart Scott's Regrettable Bait In 2007: 'Send Me That Neck Roll Because I Broke It'

While making an appearance on the Baltimore Ravens' YouTube channel, Bart Scott talked about a story of him happily injuring a Steelers player while they were getting destroyed.

"[The Steelers] are in their four-minute offense. It's clear that we're going to lose this game, but we can lose the war, but we're not going to lose the battles, the in-between battles in between plays. If there's one thing I'm not going to take, it's disrespect, especially from a dude with a neck roll. Me and Dan Kreider, we had a whole conversation about what was about to occur. The play before the timeout, I hit Willie Parker. I'm under the ground, and I had a few choice words. I'm like, 'Listen, Willie, this guy's going to get you killed, he sucks.' So, of course, he wants to defend himself. He pops up, 'Screw you.' I'm like, 'Oh yeah, you don't want this smoke, trust me.'"

Obviously, when it comes to a rivalry of this caliber, a little bit of trash talking is not much of a big deal. After that play however, there was a TV timeout. Scott talked about how he followed Kreider to the Steelers' sideline to keep talking smack about him and his play. The two players are arguing right in front of Mike Tomlin throughout the entire commercial break.

Steelers Give Kreider The Chance To Walk The Walk

Nobody cares how well you talk trash when you're playing against your rival. All that matters is what happens on the field. Even though the Steelers were up 38-7 in the fourth quarter, Scott still wanted to prove his point.

"I said, 'Listen man, I will know your a** out,' and he said 'Man, you won't do nothing.' It's almost like [Mike Tomlin] is watching tennis, because he's saying something and I'm responding, and Mike Tomlin stops and he said, 'You want him?' He said, 'Heck yeah, I want him.' Mike Tomlin, with his hands crossed, didn't even bat an eye. He said, 'Go get him...' It's clear as day. You get a down block, and you get an out block. For me, a guy who lived in the bubble, understanding that I can see everything, there's no lineman in front me, I'm not protected, I knew what time it was. So I hauled a**, 0 to 100 real quick... met him in the whole, BOW!"

On that play, Scott blew up Kreider on a run that ended up going about four or five yards. He got up, jogged to the sideline, then went down there. Of course, Scott was hyped up that he won that little battle at the end of the game. The Steelers still left that game with a blowout win, but the Ravens at least ended the game on a high note with a moral victory.

Afterwards, the guy running the video let Scott know that Kreider missed the next game for the Steelers because of the injury he suffered on that exact play. Scott had to get a few more words in there to say that he won the battle.

"The story grows? I had no idea [Kreider missed the next game]. I need to call Dan Kreider then and say, 'Send me that neck roll, because I broke it.'"
