The Pittsburgh Steelers made a big splash in the trade market when they acquired Seattle Seahawks star DK Metcalf in exchange for a 2025 second-round pick and a seventh-round pick.

Many thought that the 27-year-old wideout had grown tired of being with the franchise that drafted him back in 2019. Seahawks general manager John Schneider recently appeared on The Rich Eisen Show and talked about what led to the two sides parting ways.

"DK and I had very open conversations the last couple years about his future... And it was apparent that he wanted to move on," Schneider said. "It really wasn't salary related... It was like he really, really wanted a fresh start."

While he was very solid in his time with the Seahawks, Jaxon Smith-Njigba was continuing to improve and has emerged as a star. As a result, there is a good chance that Metcalf wanted to be somewhere that he was the solidified best wideout on the team.

That is exactly what he will be on the Steelers, as the team recently dealt George Pickens in a trade with the Dallas Cowboys. This means that Pittsburgh will absolutely be leaning on Metcalf for a good portion of their offense.

It is also worth noting that the Steelers lost starting running back Najee Harris in free agency to the Los Angeles Chargers. So the team could be relying even more on the passing game.

Metcalf is one of the most physically imposing threats at wide receiver that the NFL has ever seen. He will be looking to use his frame and his athleticism to carry the Steelers to new heights in 2025.
