Spurs favored to trade for Darius Garland over Lakers

The Cleveland Cavaliers were ousted by the Boston Celtics in the second round of the NBA Playoffs and now have a boatload of challenging decisions to make, including the possibility of a trade with the San Antonio Spurs or other NBA franchise. Do they continue down the same path or shake things up with Darius Garland possibly on the move to another team?

Spurs favored to trade for Darius Garland over Lakers

The Cavaliers' Garland is a popular player who could be dealt, and now the Lakers and Spurs have been listed among the teams that could receive his services.

News of a possible Garland trade was revealed along with a boast that former NBA center Dwight Howard believes he would ‘bust up' Spurs superstar Victor Wembanyama. Wembanyama's former team was reported to be on the brink of collapse.

On Thursday, May 16, the latest Darius Garland betting odds were revealed by Bovada.com, giving credence to the theory that Garland could be a Spur next season.

Spurs Eyeing Garland After Celtics Loss?

The Garland news comes on the heels of the Cavaliers' 113-98 loss to the Boston Celtics, a game that did not include superstar guard Donovan Mitchell.

Will the Cavaliers trade Garland soon? That depends largely on what they can get in return, but one thing is for sure: Garland will continue to be a plus player wherever he goes, and would be a welcome addition to a young Spurs team led by Victor Wembanyama in the front court and a savvy veteran coach in Gregg Popovich.

The Spurs' leading assist man was Tre Jones with 6.2 per game, a total that Garland could surpass with ease, while setting an example for a team that could be on the rise soon with Wembanyama ready to continue his ascent.
